In this time of the world, a dark magic, dark force has taken control. A King they say who tortures... experiments... hunts for the enjoyment. Zombie have been lifted from the ground, Demons raised from hell, even fairies and goblins who hide in the un-known parts of the world have been controlled by this king. This story is a story of friends.. of trickery.. and of revenge.. Our story starts with two friends since childhood in Salem, Jonathan and Felicia. Jonathan moved to Connecticut when i young teen, Felicia moved along several years after. When they learned of the world and it's horrors, they ran away. This is their story...
“Jonathan! Wait up!” I turned around seeing Felecia running with all her might to catch up to me. Once again she hadn't listened and just HAD to catch a frog. I had told her it was time to go, but she persisted... I had stopped and waiting, and when she reached me she huffed, “Why did... you leave me...? Alone...?” she said with each heavy breath. Her hands on her knees, she looked up, squinting from the sunlight. “Oh, so I'm guessing you didn't hear me then,” I said back smiling. She straightened up and bent over and popped her back, “Alright I heard ya, stop fussing.” I nodded and turned to walk back to camp, though I didn't hear footsteps behind me, what was it now? I began to turn around in astonishment, but... She screamed, and next thing I knew I was on the ground, struggling to get up. But the cat who had caught the mouse pinned him, kneeling over him her knees holding down one arm each. The cat smiled, “You shouldn't have stopped... now you're going to get it!” I screamed in laughter, “No! Not the nose!” She nodded slowly, her grin getting wider, “Oh yes... the nose!” She raised her hand, and struck down. Not like a punch, but she wouldn't stop poking it! Fact about me: Anyone who touches my nose, extremely annoys me... I knew she was doing it for fun, and I could've gone easier on her. Thankfully I got out one of my hands and threw her off. We both jumped to our feet, I grabbed her in a headlock before she could pounce again. She screamed playfully as I lightly rubbed her head. “Alright! I surrender, I surrender!” she yelled, trying to raise her hands as high as she could. He let her go. “Well good, we gotta go harvest the corn,” I said, a little serious. We headed back to the cave, well it was more like a cliff carved out at the bottom. So, much like a cave, we didn't have any supplies for a hut or big tent. We have more like our own teepees. We each can change, and sleep in. The cave kept us sheltered, and kept us cool from the hot sun. Speaking of which, it was quite warm this day. We went passed the little fire, and teepees, and into the sun, the little garden sat, with little colors but with enough food. "Okay I'll take the two rows on the left, and you the two on the right," I said point to us, and each row. "Oooor, I take the two left and you take the two right, "she said, switches the pointing. "Why? what's the difference?" I asked. "Non!" she smiled, and jumped at the two rows on the left and started to weed and mix the dirt. I rolled my eyes and started on the right. We Weeding, and harvested, and then watered. I picked up my shirt which I had taken off from the hot sun and wiped it on my sweat, "Nice work, Felicia...man i reek..." "I call bath first!" she called, and jumped on my back. I stumbled and stood up once I had gained my balance. "Why do you say that when you always get it first?" I asked, walking to the cave with her on my back. "Because it's fun," she replied, letting go and jumping off. The real reason was she took longer. She grabbed a towel and a change of clothes and walked back to the stream.
Felicia finished, and it was my turn. I grabbed my stuff from my tent and went watching Felicia put up her wet clothes. The stream was deep enough to stand in, and cool on clear. Reeds waved and rippled below, I got undressed and went through the plants, and found mint. That's how we stayed smelling good, we took mint, basil, rosemary, anything around and rubbed it off on us. I finished and climbed out, dried off, and got dressed in new clothes. I grabbed some lavender and began to scrub my clothes from before. When I finished and headed back, I didn't see Felicia, she was probably in her tent, making her bed or sorting through her clothes. I went to the garden and picked a few ears of corn, went back to the fire and began to peel off the paper skin. I dropped them in a dented pot, and moved the pot off the fire, since it had started to boil. Felicia usually liked corn on the cob, but it irked her getting the kernels in her teeth. Speaking of which... where was she? I got up and called, "Felicia!" I heard a flutter of wings and a breeze, ruffling the leaves. No Felicia... I started jogging, I went past the cave, a few trees shading me. It got more humid, and a little damp. There was something like a swamp nearby. I started to hear a murmur of voices, I slowed down. "..like I'd...brat...." It was Felicia! Who is she talking about, who is she talking to? I moved quietly and got closer. I hid behind a tree, and moved a little around it, trying to see the other person. The voice I heard sounded like they were chocking on broken glass, "You will be his queen..." "I will NEVER!" she yelled, "Never... go to that little snot brat who thinks himself a king." "Then you will be forced..." the thing replied, I heard uneven footsteps. It was going after her! "Felicia!" I yelled jumping out. My blood went cold... Felicia sat in a tree, only able to hold her weight by the looks of it. The second person was a zombie... The zombie, smiled a black toothy grin. It's eyes were hollow and yellow, hair loss, and a missing ear. Tattered clothes, and slightly green skin. "JON RUN!" Felicia yelled. I looked at her, but when I looked back at the zombie, he was charging. I tried to move, but my body wouldn't move. He rammed into me, and knocked the breath out of me. I hit the ground, and hit my head hard. Last thing i smelled was it's blood, skin rotting breath. Then a gunshot... and everything went black...
Chapter 2 - Spoiler:
His eyelids fluttered, what had happened? He wasn't dead, was he? His sight came into focus and he sat up, "Felicia? Where are you?" he rubbed the back of his head, and felt a large lump in place, his torso also ached as he inhaled. "Yeah I'm fine, I shot the zombie, before it ate your brains out," she exaggerated the last part, "Now wake up and come help my throw this trash out, in the pond." She hopped down from the tree, and helped me up. I stood over the zombie, the eye staring at me. Felicia grabbed the feet, "We better wash our hands ASAP after this and quick..." I nodded and grabbed the shoulders, it was soft and I could feel the bones, my stomach tightened from the feeling. WE swung it and flung it into the water, it sank and broke past thin twigs on the rotting tree branches. "Okay quick, lets get back and wash these puppies," she held up her hands and wiggled her fingers. I smiled back and we ran back, then we started racing. She got to the river, and started to scrub like crazy until our hands were stinging with the effort. "Alright I'm ready to eat!" Felicia said, shaking the water off her hands. "Oh the corn!" I exclaimed, drying my hands off my pants and running back. The water wasn't warm... but the corn was perfect. We cut up some tomato and cut off the kernels of corn, mix and served. The sun down with the sky in a rainbow. Such a depressed world, yet it still exerts beauty... As we finished, we went and got ready for bed, we both went and washed our faces and brushed our teeth. We each kept each over on a routine to keep from disease or anything. She spit out her toothpaste into the stream and it went down and out of sight, "Hey Jon?" I looked up and spit out mine, "Yeah?" "We're running low on seeds and supplies for the garden, and we're almost out of matches," she explained. "Got it, I'll get ready to go to town tomorrow, and scavenge around," I said, and wiped my mouth. "Alright, well let's get some sleep," she said, walking back to the huts. I followed behind her starting to think of what I need to pack, Town was a few miles away, maybe I could find a bike near the outskirts... We each climbed into our own huts, "Night Felicia!" "See you in the morning! Sleep tight don't let the vampires bite!" she called back. I smiled and flinched at her joke. Within a few breathes, I was out... * * * I crawled out of the tent and saw felicia, mixing rice with some leftovers from last night. "Morning," I croaked. She looked up and smiled. She always had a smile on her face, it was a small sweet smile. Always made me smile as well.
