| Introduction Hello. In case you live under a rock, I am world-renowned Captain Hector McSkull; Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea and Neverland and Captain of The Black Pearl and Jolly Roger. I’ve decided to write this book because I feel that my stories and tales should reach the next generations after us. This book is full of action, drama, fantasy, love, loss, comedy, friends, enemies, family, and much more. I hope you enjoy. Chapter One: Off to France - Spoiler:
“Yay! I can’t wait to go see Uncle Barbossa, mommy!” I danced up and down the gangway of The Victory Eagle. My mother and father laughed as I dodged the grabbing hands of our first mate Mr. Flint, who was trying to load on a barrel. “Oh, let Flint be, Hector. We need to get a move on if we want to get to France by next week.” said my mother. My mother, Elizabeth McSkull, wore her signature blue coat and black hat, but under her long coat, she wore a large shirt so her pregnant belly wasn’t squished in her regular shirt. My father, Henry McSkull, wore his usual green coat, brown trousers, red sash, and his signature feather hat. He went off to get the others. “Alright everyone. Time to go.” My brother, Zack, and my sister, Twilight, both looked up at my father and smiled. Zack ran up to my father, who picked him up and raised him up in the air. Twilight ran to me and clung on to my leg. Zack was four, Twilight was two, and I was six. After everything was loaded onto the Victory Eagle, we hoisted the anchor, raised the sails, and set off to France. The three of the McSkull children ran around, playing pretend battles and hanging out with the crewmembers as my mother and father ran the ship. Everything was just perfect, until….
Chapter Two: The Dark Day - Spoiler:
Three days out to sea, we run into a terrible hurricane. The crew runs around, trying to prevent the ship from being destroyed. My father barked orders to the crew and our mother told us to hide in the Captain’s Quarters. Twilight and Zack were crying and I was trying to comfort them. I looked up to the window and saw one of the most bizarre ships to ever sail the Seven Seas. It was gothic, covered with skeletons, bones, bats, coffins, and blood. It was The Bloody Baron, captained by the vile Count Vladius Dracula. Accompanied by his three brides and his henchmen, the four vampires continued to blow and create huge waves. I quickly ran up to my father, who was still barking orders. He looked down at me and crouched down to my height. “Hector! I thought your mother told you to—“ I cut him off by pointing to the Bloody Baron in horror. He turned his head and his eyes widened as the first cannon shot zoomed over his head. My father missed death by inches. “BATTLE STATIONS EVERYONE!!!” my father yelled. The men quickly ran to the cannons, stuffing in the ammo. “FIRE ALL!!!” shouted my father. From then on, both the Victory Eagle and The Bloody Baron bombarded each other in cannon fire. Then suddenly, there was a scream in the night. Everyone looked down to see my mother leaned against a wall, with water around her ankles. “Oh Dear God, not now…” said my father. He rushed to her side and ordered two other men to help him. I rushed into the Captain’s Cabin. “Zack! Twilight! Mommy’s going to have the baby!” Zack and Twilight zoomed out the door and to my mother’s side to see her holding a new bundle of joy in her arms. If anything could calm my father’s stone cold heart, it was always his kids. Twilight, who was just trying to talk, asked my mother, “Wat aurre ou’s gunna nhaime its, muma?” “I’m going to name her… May” Our Hallmark moment was destroyed by a cannonball that destroyed the wall that my mother was leaning on. She began to fall over, but my father grabbed her by the arms and quickly gave Lily for me to hold. But then, the two men who were helping in the delivery knocked my father over as they fell into the dark abyss. By father held onto the edge of the ship with both hands as my mother hung onto my father’s legs. I handed Lily to Twilight, who sat down on the floor and put her fist in her mouth while Lily was on her lap. Zack and I rushed to help our parents, but to no avail. “Hector, it’s no use. It was always in our blood to die at sea, but since you are the oldest living McSkull,” he took off his hat and put it on my head carefully so he wouldn’t fall just yet, “you are now Captain of the McSkull family. Take good care of your brother and sisters, Captain McSkull…” With his last words, and another cannon blast, Elizabeth and Henry McSkull fell into the dark and dangerous abyss of Davy Jones’ Locker. It didn’t take long for the shock to kick in from what just happened. May started to cry, then Twilight, then Zack, and then me. The four of us just stood there and cried our little hearts out, but suddenly, the ship exploded, sending the four of us flying in different directions. I flew and landed on a plank from the Victory Eagle. I raised my head and shouted, “ZACK!? TWILIGHT!? WHERE ARE YOU!?” It was May who answered first, whose screaming crying came far from the east. “HECTOR?!” shouted my brother from the west. “MUMA!!! DADA!!!! WAAAAAAA!” cried Twilight coming from far behind me. “DON’T WORRY! WE WILL MEET AGAIN!!! I hope…” I laid my head down on the plank, and everything went dark…
Chapter Three: Washed Ashore - Spoiler:
After many days adrift on that small plank of wood, I washed up on shore of a familiar island. I lifted my head and smelled the air. It had the smell of rum everywhere. “Tortuga…” At least I was familiar with the town, even though I barely knew any of the residents. My parents were mostly familiar with the people while my siblings and I would run off, playing with anything we could put our little hands on. I got up, aching everywhere, and limped to the nearest inn; The Faithful Bride. I walked in and sat down at a corner table, and thought about all that happened in the past few days. My parents were dead and possibly so were my siblings. My uncle was so very far away that it was crazy. I had to face it, I was alone and lost in this world. I began to cry a little, but stopped when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and saw a little boy, around my age by the look of him, with four other boys behind him. “Hey, kid, why are ye crying? It don’t look good to be cryin’ in Tortuga, mate.” said the boy I wiped away the tears. “My parents are dead, my siblings too. Just leave me alone.” I said “Oh, come off it, lad. Things happen and ye can’t do anything about ‘em. When the world turns it’s back on ye, ye turn yer back on the world. I’m Nigel, by the way, Nigel Hooksteel.” he said as he offered his hand out to shake. “Hector McSkull” I said as I took his hand. I left out the title of “captain” because the boys wouldn’t understand. “Come with us, Skull.” said the second boy, named James. “We’ll teach ye all the tricks in the book.” I smiled, put on my father’s hat, and walked out the door with The Lost Boys of Tortuga.
Chapter Four: The Lost Boys and Girls of Tortuga - Spoiler:
It’s been seven years since That Dark Day. By now, I’m at the age of thirteen and running around with my new family, The Lost Boys and Girls of Tortuga. Over the four years, our group has lost and gained a lot of kids. Four years ago, we lost James to the scurvy. We tried to take him down to the docks undetected to say the words and all, but Dr. Grog spotted us and took James to be sliced up so his organs would be of use to the richer lot in Tortuga. Two years ago, we lost the twins, Jamie and Kayla to the workhouse. The two girls were out and about doing the usual begging and stealing, when two men from the workhouse picked them up and took them away forever… Dark and terrible things happen in workhouses, so we’ve been told. But our greatest loss was our leader Nigel himself. He went out to sea on a ship called The Rouge King last year. Before he left, he told me to take care of things in his absence. It seemed that everyone was looking up to me, whether it be my new family or my real family, wherever they were… But there were many additions to our little band of urchins. There was Bronze John, a very big kid for his age. He was as strong as an ox, but as dumb as one too. There was also the two new girls, Scarlett and Giselle. They use to live in the workhouse, until they escaped by some means that they still won’t share with me to this day. During these few years, Scarlett and I developed a kind of relationship. We were known as the “Mum and Dad” of the group and everyone else were our little kids. It was very odd at times, but never a dull moment with these kids. Lastly, a small little mousy boy named Andrew Bowdash was the last to join our group. He was very shy and fancied Scarlett a lot, but seeing that she was with me, he merely kept it to himself, although I got the feeling that he despised me from afar… Out of all the kips that the gangs had in Tortuga, I think that my gang had the best one. We lived inside The Faithful Bride. The bartender and innkeeper at the time, Tom, thought of us all as his own so he let us all share one room together. And if another ever tried to take our hangout, we’d take our fight out to the streets, usually scaring off the other enemy gang cause of Bronze John and myself. John and I were a sort of “tag-team” with me being the wit and brains while he was the brawn. Aye, I was living a great life…
Chapter Five: Recruited - Spoiler:
It was a beautiful Friday afternoon. The gang and I were just hanging around in The Faithful Bride, either playing poker, eating, drinking, or dancing. I sat at the poker table with a fine hand and a fine lass (Scarlett) on my lap. All of a sudden, the doors fly open and in steps a real man of the sea. He was tall and wore his hair in dreadlocks and wore a red fancy coat and a large brown feather hat. He was flanked by two of his crewmembers and two children. One of the kids wore his hair in a ponytail and was dressed in a white shirt and a brown vest. The other kid wore his hair in dreadlocks and was dressed in a white shirt, brown vest, and a fine brown jacket. He was carrying a little bundle, and when we got a better look, we discovered that it was a baby girl. The man sat down at a desk while the two gents sat beside him while the two boys went around, trying to find something fun to do. A man wearing spectacles stood up and announced, “The crew of the Misty Lady is in need of new sea-dogs, lookin’ for plunder and pleasure.” Immediately, many of the drunken customers of the Faithful Bride rushed up to the desk. Bronze John turned to me and said, “I’m wonderin’ if they be needing some cabin boys.” “Well let’s go see then, shall we?” I said. We both laid our cards on the table and hurried to the line while Scarlett and the others sat at the table, cheering us on. The gang knew that I always wished to be out on the open waters again, but every time someone would be looking for new crewmembers, the crew was just a bunch of drunken idiots who couldn’t splice a line so much as they could tie their shoes. Well, I was hoping that this wouldn’t turn out to be one of those fools either. When John and I finally got to the desk, the captain looked us over and whispered to the man to his left, him being the first mate. “We only be needin’ one cabin boy on this voyage. Which one of ye is gonna be the lucky one?” said the First Mate. John and I looked at each other, then back at the First Mate, but before I could open my mouth, “He will, sir. He’s the brightest, wisest, and most determined thirteen year old in these parts of Tortuga, sir.” said Bronze John. I looked at John in shock and thanks. The captain whispered to the First Mate again, then the First Mate turned to me. “Alright, boy. Arrive at the dock tomorrow morning. Welcome to the crew of The Misty Lady.” “Thank you sir!” I said and hurried back to the gang, who hooted and hollered over me. Scarlett ran into my arms and kissed me full on the lips. That only got the gang to cheer louder, except for Andrew. Andrew only sat in the corner, sulking and being depressed. The next morning, the gang walked with me to the docks for the full on goodbyes. I brought everyone into a huddle to give my speech. “I cannot begin to say how much of an honor it was to be your captain. Ye’ve all been like a family to me, and all I can say is thank you. Now, that I’ll be gone, I’ve decided to leave our very own Bronze John in charge of the gang. Don’t worry, though. I’ll be back to see you guys in no time. Just remember to always keep a weather eye on the horizon.” Everyone cheered and clapped we broke out of the huddle. I went down the line to say bye to The Lost Boys and Girls, even Bowdash, who just gave me his hand and looked to the side. The twins, Leo and Phil, saluted me as I walked passed them. Johnny smiled and waved. Danny shook my hand then hugged me. Giselle flung her arms around me and kissed me on the forehead. Davy, Simon, and Jimmy bowed low. Bronze John lifted me up into the air in a great big bear hug. When he put me down, he said “Don’t worry, Hector. I’ll take good care of ‘em all. Friends forever, mate.” We hugged each other again, then separated. Finally I reached the person I was most anxious to get to. Scarlett flung her arms around me and I wrapped mine around her. We shared a kiss, making all time stand still. We could have stayed like that forever, except for an announcement from the Fist Mate that the Misty Lady was setting sail. Scarlett and I looked at each other and both smiled. She put my father’s hat on my head and said “Go get ‘em, tiger.” And kissed me on the cheek. I picked up my sea bag, waved goodbye to everyone, and hurried off to the dock.
Chapter Six: The Start of a Life At Sea - Spoiler:
As the Misty Lady left the docks of Tortuga, The First Mate, named Abraham Gibbs, or just known as Mr. Gibbs, brought me below deck, telling that I was a cabin boy for the feared Captain Edward Teague Sparrow, and how I was so lucky, and that since I was the oldest cabin boy that I was to follow what the other men did. He brought me into a small cabin with two hammocks and two little boys sitting on the ground, playing with pistol bullets. “Boys, this is Hector McSkull. He’ll be joining us in these here voyages so welcome him in.” said Mr. Gibbs. “Ok, Mr. Gibbs. And can you tell my daddy that I want to stay in his cabin instead of this one?” asked the boy with dreadlocks. “ No, young Master Jones. The Capn isn’t to be bothered at this time.” Said Mr. Gibbs. And with a tip of his hat, he closed the door and walked up to the deck, leaving me with two little boys. I layed down on a hammock and looked at the two boys, who just stared at me. “So, what be your names?” “My name is Jones Sparrow. My daddy owns this ship.” Said the little boys in the dreadlocks. “That’s nice… and you?” I asked the boy beside Jones. “Will Turner.” Said the boy. “Nice to meet both of ye. Now they’ll be some ground rules. First, any of you two wake me in the middle of night, I shoot ye in the gut. Second, the two of ye will share a hammock. Third, whatever I say, goes. Understand?” I said. Will nodded yes, but Jones just gave me a pout and a death stare. “And what makes you boss?” said Jones. I pulled out my pistol and clicked it. “Cause I’m older and really know how to use one of these.” I said. He then nodded and the two of them ran up to their hammock. I laid back and put my hat over my eyes. Things were looking good from here, or so I thought….
Chapter Seven: A Word of Warning - Spoiler:
Time danced it’s terrible dance and soon I was a strapping man of twenty-one. The eight years I spent onboard the Misty Lady were never dull. Whether we sacked a port, sunk enemy ships, or even threatened the life of the King, life was looking good. Captain Teague believed in share and share alike. He believed that a crew was a family that ate, slept, and battled together. We never dared to commit mutiny, for Teague would have us flogged, keelhauled, boiled in oil, and then blasted out of a cannon. That’s how we lost Ol’ Jackal. He tried to lead a mutiny because he believed Teague had cheated him in his cut of the treasure and tried to steal the captain’s share. When we saw Jackal blasted out of the cannon, we saw him land in a circle of sharks…. We’re not sure if he ever survived or not… After a good amount of pillaging and plundering, the crew ported in Tortuga to pick up supplies and relax a while. The two young boys, Jones and Will, who were both twelve at the time, always hung with me. Even though we had our differences in the beginning of our times on the ship, the two really looked up to me so I acted like their big brother. When Teague was teaching the boys about piracy, they requested that I helped them alongside the Captain. Teague granted their wish and the two of us taught them how to fight, how to pillage, and how to pick up some salty sea wenches. So Jones, Will, and I walked into the Faithful Bride, where I was a regular. Scarlett and I broke up a few years after I left for the sea, but we’re still good friends. I was still very friendly with all the Lost Boys and Girls and even the new young ones. But after a few drinks and socializing, a skinny man, looking like death itself, slammed the doors open and screamed, “Be warned! BE WARNED!! Evil Sails the Seas!” We all laughed and raised our glasses. “Oy, we’re already evil!” I laughed. The man grabbed my shirt and stared at me with his wild eyes. When I got a closer look at him, I saw that he was bleeding from cuts all over his arms and back, that he had the pox, and that he only had one good tooth left. “Ye don’t understand, sonny! Cursed Pirates sail these waters! BEWARE THE CURSE!!!!” He let go of me and ran out into the streets shouting “BEWARE THE CURSE!!!!” The laughter died down. We all stared out into the harbor. “Cursed Pirates sail these waters” he said. But who were they…..?
Chapter Eight: Escorting Young Mr. Turner - Spoiler:
As the three of us were walking out of the tavern, we passed a bunch of merchant sailors, talking about wenches, rum, and a man named Bill Turner. On hearing that name, Will rushed over to them. “What do you know about Bill Turner?” said Will to the man with a sailor cap, blue coat, and black britches. “What’s it to ya, sonny?” said the man. Will signed and pulled out two pieces of gold. The man grinned. “Well, last I heard of ol’ Bill Turner was that he’d be headed off to da Bahamas. Speakin’ of which, that’s where we’d be headin’ soon enough.” said the man. Will ran back to me. “Hector! They know about my father! At long last! I was thinking they could take me to him, but could you come with me to help?” asked Will. His look of plea touched my black heart. “We’ll go ask Teague and we’ll see what he says.” I said. Will jumped up and down with excitement and ran back to the harbor, where Teague was barking orders to the crew as Jones and I followed behind. “Capn,” I started, but Teague gave me his usual look. “I mean Teague,” I said and he nodded. He wanted me always to call him Teague. He thought of me like his own son. “Anyway, young Mr. Turner was wonderin’ if he could go off with a bunch of merchants to the Bahamas in search of his father.” I said. Teague knew that Will was on a quest to find his father ever since his mother died when he was four. Teague thought for a moment and then said, “Would you be goin’ with him, Hector?” “Aye, sir.” I said. He thought some more. “What of these men? Worse than us?” he said “Is that possible, sir?” I said. We both laughed. “Aye, you two can go, but I expect ye back with us when we head off to Palma, Hector.” said Teague. I nodded, shook his hand, and went off back to the tavern with an excited Will close behind.
It was a bit odd to sail under the flag again, but I eventually got use to it. But after two days out to sea, we spotted a lone ship far off in the fog of the horizon. “What do ye think of her, sir?” said the first mate. “I’m not sure yet, Mr. Ruben.” said the captain, looking through his spyglass. I picked up my own and looked on with him. The ship started to head towards us. She was as black as night… “Colors, sir?” said the first mate. “She isn’t flyin’ any.” I said. The captain cursed under his breath. “Pirates…” said the captain, who began barking orders to the men. The men began to scatter, pulling on ropes, turning her portside, dousing lamps, and trying everything to not be seen by the ship. But they saw us alright. Will ran up to the deck and to my side, as I looked from the helm at our oncoming attacker. When she was in range, she blew apart the bow, either killing or shaking everyone up. She fired again and again. “FIRE ALL!!!” barked the captain, but the pirates blasted apart the cannons. She then focused her attack on the bottom port side. Realization struck me. “ She aiming for—“ BOOM!!!! I was cut off by a huge explosion. The pirates plan worked. They blew apart the powder magazine, sending the merchant ship to Kingdom Come. I felt myself flying in the air and landing hard in the water. With my last ounces of strength, I hoisted myself onto a plank and looked at the fire engulf the ship. The last thing I saw was Young Will, knocked out and lying on a big piece of wood. Then everything went black…. Or was it just the enemy ship passing in front of me?
Chapter Nine: Reunited - Spoiler:
I woke up in a dimly lit and elegant cabin. There were candles lined up everywhere, giving the cabin a sort of spooky sense to it. In the center of the cabin stood a black wooded table with four chairs to the sides of it. Two rows of cannons lined the walls and swinging back and forth was a small perch for a bird or God knows what else… I sat up, still uneasy from the attack. My head hurt, my limbs felt like they were stuck with thousands of daggers, and everything in the room spun. Suddenly, a hand pushed me down gently back to resting. I quickly took out my pistol, clicked it loaded, and pointed it at a dark-skinned man with protruding dots around his eyes, neck, and body. “Rest now, Hector. You’ve been through a lot.” said the man, with a heavy African accent. A little surprised, I lowered my weapon. “Who are you?” I said weakly. “Bo’sun. First Mate of the Black Pearl.” he said. Now everything made some sense. The ship that attacked us, that was as black as night, was this ship itself. “I’ll inform the captain that you have woken.” said Bo’sun and he walked out of the cabin. I laid there, thinking about everything that happened, thinking of the Misty Lady crew, and wondering about Young Will Turner, hoping he was alright. To my surprise, a small monkey, wearing a red vest and a white shirt. He wore little brown trousers and little buttons in his vest. He sat on my stomach, grinning a little monkey grin. The sound of boots made him look over to the entrance and he quickly hoped up on the swing. So that’s what it’s for… I thought. And then a bearded man walked to the side of my bed. A man that wore his green coat, fancy brown vest, white shirt, yellow sash, brown trousers, brown boots, and his signature feather hat. He also wore a huge smile across his face. “Hector McSkull, me boy, it’s been far too long.” said the bearded man. All I could do was smile and laugh. “You sure know how to make an entrance, Uncle Barbossa.”
Chapter Ten: Kidnapped - Spoiler:
As I sat in the brig, tied to a post, I felt that the ship I was on was flying. Flying up out of the water and into the air. With a sign, I thought back on how I found myself in this predicament. The Black Pearl was in a heated battle with an elegant yet evil ship, crewed by men from all across the world. We never got sight of the captain, but judging the ship, he was a “sophisticated pirate”. So the crew of the Pearl and the crew of the elegant ship swung back and forth, killing anyone who got in their way. I, leading the boarding party, swung over and killed off an Egyptian, Spaniard, and Russian crew member. I turned to face a very tall man, built like an ox with a blue bandana, red coat, and eye patch. He started to attack, but I parried and cut him deep in the arm. He shrank back in pain, but lifted his head with a grin. “Watch out Capn McSkull!” shouted Pintel and Ragetti, the two jokesters of the Black Pearl Crew. My uncle, after knowing what happened That Dark Day, ordered the men to title me as Captain McSkull. I turned around briefly saw the hook before it knocked me over the head. I fell to the ground unconscious. “Tie him up with the rest of the prisoners. We’ll leave them to the crocodile when we get back.” said the hooked man. “Aye Capn!” said the crew. They dragged my body off the deck and below to the brig. So now I sit and wait till we head back to their hideout. Which was pretty soon, because I felt the ship hit water again.
Chapter Eleven: Never Neverland - Spoiler:
I woke up with a start when the ship, known as the Jolly Roger, landed back down on the water. Immediately, from overhead, the pirates were moving about. They all chanted “Plank! Plank! Plank!” over and over again. They were also moving around something very heavy. They were also…. Singing… and dancing… For once, I was glad I was tied up. Then suddenly, a bright ball of light, no larger than the size of my fist, zoomed up to me. I heard the sound of excited bells and then, from above, saw the face of a young boy, no older than twelve or thirteen. “Hector…? Hector McSkull…?” asked the boy. “Who wants to know?” I barked back. “It’s me, Hector. Peter.” Said the boy. “Peter…? Little Peter from the old gang?” I wondered. “The one and only Peter Pan The Avenger!” said Peter, flying off the ground with pride. All I could do was stare at this boy in amazement. “What happened to you, Peter? You don’t even look a day over twelve.” I said. “Well, after you headed off to sea, I was caught and sent off to St. Norberts, but no time for this now. We need to get you out of here.” he said. I looked at him, a little confused. “Whose we?” I asked, and was interrupted by a burst of bells. “Why me and Tinkerbell, of course.” Said Peter. I looked at him like he was mad. “Tinkerbell….? Such an odd sort of name.” I said, and the bright ball of light began to zoom around my head, furiously. “It’s ok, Tink. He doesn’t know.” Said Peter. “Know what?” I said. “Tink’s a fairy. A pixie.” He said. This boy should be in a straight jacket…. I thought, but then remembered, “Uh, Peter. Where are we exactly?” I asked. “Why, you’re in Neverland. The wondrous island where it’s every season on different parts of the island. A place where Indians and Pirates roam the jungle. A place where the Lost Boys play and fool around. A place where the fairies fly freely. A place where you never grow up. In Never Neverland.” Said Peter. “Alright, now isn’t the time for poetry, Pete. Care to let me out?” I asked. He nodded to Tink and she quickly unlocked the cell door and untied me. “Quick. Someone must’ve heard that.” Peter said. “Not without my effects.” I said, and hurried off to pick up my jacket, sword, pistols, and hat.
Peter and I quietly snuck past the sleeping pirate, who was supposed to be watching the prisoners. We made our way up to the deck and saw that the pirates were singing….. “Some bizarre place, this Neverland is, eh?” I said, but Peter signaled to me to keep it down. The crew was dancing around one man. They moved away to reveal the man. He was finely dressed in a red coat, embroidered with gold. He wore a large feather hat, fine shoes, and sophisticated trousers. He wore his hair down in very long curls and a curved mustache. But what really made this individual fierce was the hook, replacing his left hand. “So that’s the world renowned Captain Hook.” I said. “Not much to praise him on, eh?” I said with a quiet laugh. “Now isn’t the time for jokes, Hector. You’ve got to get back to your crew. Wait, look!” said Peter excited. The pirates finished their song, and Hook barked. “Bring up the prisoner!” “Aye sir!” said a large man. I turned to Peter with a grin and a raised sword. “I’ve got an idea, mate…..”
Chapter Twelve: Captain of a New Ship - Spoiler:
“AHHHHHH!!!!!!!” There was a terrible scream in the night. The pirates looked at each other in horror. Then a victory cry came out. “BANGARANG!!” “What was that?!” shouted Hook. The crew just looked each other in horror. “Noodler, go!” said Hook. Noodler, with his hands on backwards, hurried into the brig, and screamed. Then the battle cry was heard again. “BANGARANG!!!” “It’s happening again! Bunions!” screamed Hook, but then his face contorted into an evil grin. “Bring the girl from my cabin!” he laughed. The crew laughed and hurried off to the captain’s quarters. They returned with a girl in a blue nightgown. “Angila!” started Peter, but I held him back. “So what’s it going to be, Peter? Our prisoner, or your adorable little girlfriend?” laughed Hook. Peter looked at me for help, but I reminded him, “Keep to the plan, mate. Save Angila and get them away from the ship. Got it?” “Aye, Hector.” Said Peter with a smile on his face. He zoomed up into the air and flew around the ship. “Oh Captain HOOK!!!” yelled Peter with glee. “PAN!!!!” screamed Hook. He shoved the men aside and chased after the flying boy. Peter swooped down, picked up Angila, and hovered in front of the crew, mocking, “Come and get me, boys!” he said, and zoomed up, with Angila smiling away. The men quickly loaded themselves in the longboats and scattered to find that flying boy. I hurried to the anchor and tried to raise it with all my strength. After a few minutes, the heavy anchor was raised, the sails were set, and all the cannons loaded. I hurried off to the helm and commandeered my first very own ship.
“Uh, Capn… Is the ship supposed to be doin’ that?” said Smee, Hook’s right hand man (more left hand man). Hook looked through his spyglass in rage. “It’s a trick! Back to the ship, you dogs!” shouted Hook. The men began turning the boats around, but I was ready for them. “Fire one!” I shouted, and lit the fuse to a cannon. It splashed in front of a longboat, spooking the living devil out of them, and they all jumped out of the boat. “Fire two!” I shouted, and lit another fuse. The Pirates began shooting at the ship, trying to hit me. I ran over to Long Tom and lit the fuse. In a huge flash, three cannons flew out, hitting two ships and destroying one of them. I whistled and Tink flew around the ship, coating it in fairy dust. The ship began to fly in the air. I took off my hat and waved to the confused Hook. “This is the day that you’ll always remember, James Hook. As the day that Captain Hector McSkull commandeered the fine Jolly Roger and flew her away in the distance!” I shouted down. Hook screamed in rage and I laughed and headed into the Second Star to the Right Portal. Once back on the other side, I landed down in the sea, right beside The Black Pearl, where my uncle stood at the helm, smiling with pride.
Chapter Thirteen: A New Face - Spoiler:
Years pass, I become skillful each passing day under the teachings of my uncle, and eventually we run into a trouble that we deal with for five years. It all could have been avoided if Uncle Barbossa and his men left the Cursed Treasure of Cortez alone, but greed got the best of them. For the past eight years, we searched everywhere, trying to look for the scattered pieces of the treasure. I, having missed the famed mutiny of the former captain and spending of the treasure, was the only living being on that cursed ship. Eventually we collect all the scattered pieces, except for one. One day, as we were laying down our loot in our cave of Isla de Muerta, something hit me. A memory from long ago. A memory of a little twelve year old boy… “With the exact same medallion!” I said out loud. Barbossa looked at me confused. “Hear me out, Uncle. Remember the day ye picked me up?” I asked. They all nodded. “Well, along with me was a little boy I was familiar with, and he had a medallion exactly like the ones we’ve collected!” Barbossa and the crew leaned in, concerned and excited all at once. “What be his name, son?” asked Barbossa. “Will…. Something…. Ye know, it’s been so long, I’ve forgotten.” I said. Suddenly, the cave shook violently. Treasure scattered and shook and most of us fell down. Once it stopped, and everyone got up, the crew began to laugh menacingly. We all looked to Barbossa for the word. “Set sail for Port Royal! Hahaha!” laughed Barbossa. They all laughed and hurried off to the longboats, chanting and cheering back to the Black Pearl. “Fire One!” shouted Barbossa. The crew lit the fuse and aimed the cannon at the fort. It hit the rampart, smashing the brick wall ‘RETURN FIRE!!!” we heard the Commodore shout. We laughed. Barbossa kept shouting orders and the crew continued to fire at different parts of Port Royal, destroying the town. Barbossa laughed and shouted “Shore party away!” I, leading the party, lead the crew into a rampage of the town, plundering, pillaging, looting, burning the city, and just being a fright. Well, everyone knows how the rest of it goes; Pintel and Ragetti bring back a distressed Elizabeth Swann to the Pearl, where we discover that she has the medallion and claims that her name is Elizabeth Turner. And to her misfortune, she was shanghaied onboard the Black Pearl. But here’s what some people don’t know what happened during the voyage to Isla de Muerta It was dark and cool. I sat up in the rigging as I usually do, gazing at the stars, wondering if there was more out there then just Earth, when a noise took me out of my trance. I looked down and saw a little dot in the water. I took out my spyglass and jumped up. “Man overboard!” I looked closer through the spyglass and saw that the person had very long, brown hair. “My mistake! Woman overboard!” The bony cursed crew looked over the side and frantically went down, scooped her up, and laid her down on the dock. We all circled around her. She was beautiful. Long brown hair, beautiful face, a fancy red coat, black boots, and brown pants. Looking around the circle, all I saw were the faces of skeletal Pintel, Ragetti, Bo’sun, Jacoby, Twigg, Koehler, and Clubba. “Gents, I don’t think it would be good for her to wake up in front of a group of living corpses. Save yer skeletal selves for Miss Turner if she begins to freak out in there.” I said. They laughed and went back to working. I picked the girl up and brought her below deck. I laid her down on a pile of blankets and sat to the far side, flipping a coin. Something caught my attention though. She started to moan a little and kept repeating softly and weakly “He’s coming for me…. He’s coming for me…. Land… Land…” All I could do was stare at her, a little confused. Screams from above brought me out of my trance. “Ah, looks like our guest isn’t enjoying the company.” I laughed. Suddenly, the girl shot out of the blankets, startled by the screams and confused on where she was. “Where am I?!” she said, frantically. “Not to worry, miss. Ye be onboard the Black Pearl. Ye were floating out in the water unconscious.” I said, offering her one of the blankets. She backed up, n the defensive. “All I want is to get to land.” she said, moving her hand a little closer to her pistol. “All in good time, lass. We’re due to make port by morning.” I said. “No, you don’t understand. He’s coming after me.” she said, trembling a little. “Who is?” I asked, curious. “There’s no time to explain. I need to get to land now!” she yelled. “Then swim to land cause right now we’re on open waters.” I said. That set her off. She quickly grabbed her pistol, clicked it loaded, and aimed it to my heart. Thrown off guard a little bit, I stand there, perfectly still, as she shook in fear and anger. “Get me to land NOW!!!” her voice shook. “Or what? You’re gonna shoot me? That won’t change anything, love.” I said. “I’ll do it. By God I’ll do it!” she continued. “Then shoot.” I said plainly. Obviously this girl didn’t get reverse psychology. She pulled the trigger, but all that was heard was a click. She tried again and again but to no avail. She cursed under her breath. “Wet powder….” She moaned. Hearing a click, she turned to her left to see my pistol raised at her head. “How ‘bout ye calm down, lass. I ain’t a violent person when it comes to ladies, but if I’m tempted…” I said. She pouted, crossed her arms, and sat down on a barrel. “What’s your name?” I asked. “Rose J—“ she stopped herself. “Rose. Just Rose. Who are you?” “Captain Hector McSkull. Captain of the Jolly Roger and Self Proclaimed Pirate Lord of Neverland. It’ll be a real title once we sort that out with the Brethren Court…” I said. She turned to the side, laughing. “And what is so funny?” I asked, annoyed. “Neverland? What the devil is that? A children’s tale? HAHAHA!” she bursted out laughing. I rolled my eyes. I took out the hook that I use as a piece of eight. It was a gold hook, finely polished and as sharp as a shark’s tooth. Her laughter died down and she was in a trance with the hook’s shininess. “Have ye ever heard of a Captain Hook?” I asked her. She shook her head. “Perhaps ye’ve heard him as Black Stache.” “Oh, is that the bloke who lost his hand to a twelve year old?” asked Rose. I nodded. “Well anyways…” I started, and before I knew it, it was morning and Isla de Muerta was in view. Rose and I had talked the entire night about past adventures, rum, islands, and even some of our childhood, although it was mostly me talking. Rose seemed to have a very big secret that she hid very well.
Chapter Fourteen: Commotion on Isla de Muerta - Spoiler:
We all went up to the helm as Uncle Barbossa placed the medallion around Elizabeth’s neck. Even though she stood nice and tall, I could see that she was scared out of her mind. We all loaded into the longboats and rowed over to the Treasure Cave. I tried telling Rose what was going on, without giving away that the crew was the living dead. As we went in, the crew began hauling the swag and loot and dumping it all over the cave. I sat down in my usual spot, since I didn’t have to be a part of any of this, and Rose pulled up a seat next to me. Jack the Monkey, from time to time, jumped up on my shoulder playfully. “What is that thing?” asked Rose, smiling. “This here is Jack. He’s named after the first captain or somethin’. I don’t know. Anyway, he’s me uncle’s pet.” I said. Jack jumped off my shoulder when he saw that Barbossa and Elizabeth were at the chest. Rose, not understanding what was going on, sat on edge. “Gentlemen, the time has come!” shouted Barbossa. The crew cheered. Barbossa fired away with his speak, talking about how everyone has suffered, how everyone has proven themselves, and about the blood that had to be paid. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted two heads, ducked low behind the opened rock. They quickly ducked down lower, out of sight. I had my hand on my pistol, ready for anything. Rose sensed something was up and she did the same. I looked back over to the show, watching Barbossa cut Elizabeth’s hand and soaking the medallion with her blood. The medallion was dropped and everyone closed their eyes, waiting. But when they opened their eyes again, they were confused. “Did it work?” asked Koehler. “I don’t feel no different.” said Ragetti. “How do we tell?” asked Pintel. Barbossa rolled his eyes, took out his pistol, and shot Pintel right in the heart. Pintel looked down at his heart, a little shocked. “You’re not dead!” exclaimed Koehler. “No! He shot me!” shouted Pintel. The pirates began to argue and turn on each other. Rose nudged me, her mouth still hung open. “How is that man not dead?!” she exclaimed. “They’re cursed…” I sighed. “It’s a long story that I’ll share with you later, but right now,” I clicked my pistol “let’s find out who else his here with us.” I jumped up from my seat and snuck behind the rocks. As the crew continued to turn on each other, I saw a dripping wet Elizabeth with a man with brown hair in a ponytail, white shirt, brown vest, and a small brown mustache. At first, he looked oddly familiar, but I ignored that feeling and followed after them in the shadows. My blunder was that I accidentally stepped on a few coins, making some noise. They quickly turned around, with oars in their arms, and jumped into the water. I ran to the edge and fired into the water, hoping I hit something. The crew ran around in a frenzy, looking for the missing oars and the missing medallion and girl. But through all the commotion, we found another straggler. Captain Jack Sparrow in the flesh. “You…” said Ragetti, pointing at Jack. “You’re supposed to be dead!” shouted Pintel. “Am I not?” asked Jack. Jack, with a grin, turned around, only to face daggers and my loaded pistol. He turned around and faced daggers, Pintel’s pistol, and Rose’s pistol. “Palulay…palu-li-la-la-lulu, parlili… parsnip, pasley, par - partner, partner…” guessed Jack. “Parlay?” asked Ragetti. “That’s the one! Parlay! Parlay!” “Parley? Down to the depths whatever man that thought up “parley!” said Pintel. Jack put his fingers in the barrels of Pintel’s gun to lower it. “That would be the French. Latin based, of course. Inventers of mayonnaise.” said Jack. “I like mayonnaise!” said Pintel with a smile. “Shame about the French, though. Obsessed with raisins. Humiliated grapes, really. Think about it.” said Jack, with a weird hand gesture. “Don’t know.” said Pintel with a confused look. “Terrific singers, the French. Whoop! Eunuchs. All of ‘em.” said Jack. “That’s not right…” said Grapple. “I used to date a eunuch.” said Pintel. We all backed up a little. “I’ll get me coat.” said Jack.
“So you’re Jack Sparrow, eh?” I asked. “Captain… Captain Jack Sparrow.” He said annoyed. “Boy, yer brother was right.” I said. His eyes widened. “You know my brother?” he asked. “Sure do, sailed with him for eight years. Good kid.” I said. “Get to know him better, mate…” said Jack. He walked to the center, with an oar in his hands and leaned on it. Barbossa walked through the gap and just glared at Jack. “How the blazes did you get off that island?” he asked. We all looked over to Jack. “When you marooned me on that God forsaken spit of land, you forgot one very important thing mate…. I’m Captain Jack Sparrow.” grinned Jack. “Ah, well, I won’t be making that mistake again. Gents, you all remember Captain Jack Sparrow? Kill him.” said Barbossa. We laughed and loaded out pistols, all pointing at Jack. “The girl’s blood didn’t work, did it?” asked Jack. Barbossa froze. “Hold yer fire!” he ordered. We reluctantly lowered our pistols. Barbossa walked back to Jack. “You know whose blood we need?” he asked. Jack grinned. “I know whose blood ye need…”
Chapter Fifteen: Battle of the Ships - Spoiler:
“Alright, Hector. I want answers now!” barked Rose. Onboard the Black Pearl, in my cabin, Rose began to pace back and forth as I sat on my bed, watching her contemplate all the events that just took place. She looked oddly cute when she was angry. “As I said, Rose, we’ve all got skeletons in our closets. Mine are just walking the decks.” I chuckled a little, but Rose just glared at me, tapping her foot. Sometime in the future, I’d know that that was her look of murder. My smile disappeared and I sighed. “The chest that you saw back in the cave is of Aztec origins. Cortes himself, when he conquered the Aztecs, was delivered a stone chest of that same nature. It was blood money paid to stem the slaughter that was wreaked upon his armies. And so, with that in mind, the Heathen Gods placed upon the gold a terrible curse. If one was to take just a single piece of the gold, they’d be punished for all eternity.” “As the dead?!” shouted Rose. “They are not dead, yet nor are they alive. They’re undead.” I tried to smile, but then noticed Rose turn away as I said undead. I went on. “There’s nothin’ to fear, Rose. I ain’t one of them.” I said, patting my chest, trying to show that I’m alive. Before Rose could return, a knock was heard on my door. “Enter!” I called. Bo’sun walked into the cabin. “Captain, we’re comin’ up upon the Interceptor. Your uncle wishes you at the helm.” said Bo’sun. With that, I sprang to my feet, put on my father’s hat, and walked out on deck and up to the helm, where Uncle Barbossa was standing, looking through his spyglass. Many know of that victory for the pirates. Captain Barbossa destroyed the Interceptor, later realizing that the sole survivor who escaped from under the ship was none other than William Turner himself. It was as if I’d had a cannonball to the chest. Little Willie was all grown up, and was the key to freeing my crew from their fate. I had to choose either family or friend.
Chapter Sixteen: The Choice Is Made - Spoiler:
I’m sorry that I’m beginning to rush the chapters, but all this info is well known throughout history. Now everyone knows how it went down from there. Barbossa marooned Jack and Elizabeth on Rumrunner’s Island and returned back to Isla de Muerta, to carry out the deed they longed to be over. Will and I barely even glanced at each other throughout the whole ordeal. I didn’t know who was more ashamed, but then I kept reminding myself that I was a pirate and the crew was my family. My times onboard the Misty Lady with two little rug rats were long gone. “Begun by blood,” repeated Uncle Barbossa “by blood undone!” I watched as he slowly brought the knife to Will’s neck, but before he could cut, none other than Jack came staggering through the crowd. Barbossa and Jack began to barter and bargain over the HMS Dauntless. It was eventually agreed and the dead took a walk while Barbossa and five others (me and Rose included), stood and guarded the cave while Jack continued to be Jack. “I must admit, Jack. I thought I had ye figured out. Turns out yer a hard man to figure.” grinned Uncle Barbossa. Jack turned with a smile. “Me? I’m dishonest. And a dishonest man can always be trusted to be dishonest. Honestly! It’s the honest one’s you have to watch out for. Cause you can never predict, when they’re goin’ to do somethin’ incredibly…. stupid.” Jack looked at Will and kicked Monk into the water, taking Monk’s sword out of his sheath as he fell. Jack tossed it to Will, who began to free himself. Barbossa was already up and alert and pounced on Jack. They dueled a fierce fight while, the rest of the crew dueled onboard the Dauntless. I drew my cutlass and rushed into battle while Rose stood silently in the shadows, observing for the moment.
I knocked over Jacoby in my efforts to get to Will first. When he turned to look into my eyes, it was like fire erupted from his eyes and burned my flesh. I rolled to the back of him, raised my sword, and cut his bindings. “What are you doing?!” said Will in confusion. I grinned a sly grin, punching Monk back into the water. “Choosing a side.” I winked. The moment quickly disappeared as Clubba lunged at me, but Will blocked and parried his blade. “Back to back!” I barked. Will and I stood back to back, fighting off my uncle’s crewmen. “Why are you doing this, Hector? Why would you turn against your crew?” said Will, knocking Jacoby back. “I couldn’t let the little whelp perish on my account. Remember that I’m still in charge of you until I get ye safely ‘to da Bahamas’” I said, quoting the old sailor from the bar almost nine years ago. With a reassuring smile, Will and I continued to fight Barbossa’s men while Jack and Barbossa dueled to the death.
The battle raged on. Swipe after swipe Will and I blocked and parried. Even though it was two against three, we had the upper hand. Jacoby then punched Will in the face, forcing him off balance and onto the ground. Jacoby raised his sword. “I’m gonna teach you the meanin’ of pain!” “You like pain?!” said a familiar female voice. Jacoby turned, only to receive a blow to the head. “Try wearing a corset.” finished young Elizabeth Swann, the Governor of Port Royal’s daughter. She offered the golden rod she used to knock out Jacoby with to Will, who took it to help himself up. They smiled at each other, but the moment didn’t last when they turned to see two skeletons fighting in the moonlight below. “Who’s side is Jack on?!” said Elizabeth. Will just shrugged “At the moment…?” said Will. I couldn’t stop staring though. I recognized my uncle’s skeleton immediately, but if Elizabeth hadn’t recognized Jack as the second skeleton, I would have never known. My concentration was broken when I saw a fast sweeping gold rod in the corner of my eye. I quickly reached for my sword and blocked the oncoming blow from Miss Swann. Will quickly intervened. “Elizabeth! It’s alright. Hector is a friend.” said Will. Elizabeth looked at him like he had two heads. “He’s one of them!” she screamed “And a good man.” said Will. Pride swelled up in me. Elizabeth was speechless, but I had to grab them both down as Jacoby and Clubba came up from behind. The fight continued on both ends. Jack vs. Barbossa and pirate vs. pirate. On occasion, I looked at the fight between Barbossa and Jack, silently hoping that Barbossa would finish him off. But when I looked, Barbossa looked at me ashamed, but then grinned.
Everyone now stood in a crossfire. Barbossa had pulled out his pistol and aimed it at Elizabeth. Jack and I had take ours out and aimed it at Barbossa. My own uncle pulled out another and aimed it at me. Two shots were heard… “NO!” cried a voice from afar. While Barbossa was too concerned on seeing Jack’s pistol steaming, he didn’t get the chance to turn to the side to see Rose jumping in front of Barbossa’s shot meant for me. I was in awe. She gave her life for the man who saved hers. I quickly dashed over to see that the bullet had gone straight through her head. Her eyes remained open. I slid my hand over her face to close them. I got up to see my uncle fall back, a blood stained hole right over his blackheart. “Fair winds, uncle.” I said solemnly. Suddenly I heard a gasp and a cough. Cautiously, I turned to see Rose… standing up. “What a hit.” she said, staggering to her feet. “Impossible….” I choked. When she looked up to see me, her face went white. She panicked. She picked up a handful of gold coins, threw them at my face, and dove right into the water. Distracted for a moment, I quickly to the edge to see the ripples in the water slowly become still and clear again. “What is she…?”
Chapter Seventeen: A New Beginning For All - Spoiler:
It’s been a year since The Curse of the Black Pearl and the escape of the notorious Captain Jack Sparrow from the hangman’s noose. Even though I was part of the Cursed Crew and of Barbossa’s Bloodline, I was still welcome onboard the Black Pearl with open arms. In our adventures together, Jack and I began to grow a friendship between each other. But when Jack was captured and sent to the Turkish Prison, Gibbs and I were in charge. When Jack returned from prison, he was madder than a hatter, panic stricken about an unknown force tearing him away from his beloved Pearl and the Sea. In a mad frenzy, we head for land, not knowing it to be home to a savage tribe of Cannibals. They believed Jack to be a God in human form and intended to roast him and eat him to release the spirit. Through many events based mainly on luck and not skill, we were able to escape the island, with a new and familiar member to the crew. Young Will Turner, now engaged to the lovely Elizabeth Swann, joined up with Jack again to save Elizabeth from death. Jack took that knowledge to his advantage. The Pearl headed up river to the murky bayou of the beautiful and mystic Tia Dalma, whom I had crossed paths with during the year of sailing with Jack. Tia then told us of Davy Jones and gave Jack a Jar of Dirt for him to carry land with him. What was strange to me though was that whenever I entered Tia’s shack, I always had a feeling that someone else was in the shack. I always saw a pair of boots in the far corner where Jack the monkey always climbed to, but whenever I went to see, Tia would pull me back to my chair with her dark voodoo power. Let me tell ya, people, Tia may be lovely, but she is dark and powerful. Anyway, when we were there, we learned of Jack’s deal with the Devil himself to rise the Pearl from the depths and grant him the rank of captain for the next thirteen years. His time was up. So as always, Jack used the whelp.
Chapter Eighteen: Niece of the Devil - Spoiler:
“That’s the Flying Dutchman?” asked Will, indicating the ship split in two off on the horizon. Gibbs slowly nodded while Jack looked at his left hand, then put it back down. “She doesn’t look like much.” “Neither do you. Do not underestimate her.” said Jack. When there was a long pause, Jack nudged Gibbs hard in the stomach. “Must’ve been a fowl of the reef!” said Gibbs. I watched from the side, just shaking my head while Will began to row over to the broken ship. When the crew went off to douse the lamps, I walked over to Jack. “You know he won’t be coming back.” I said. Jack merely grinned. “It’s only a matter of leverage, Hector.” He winked and walked away while I just stared at Will rowing to his fate.
“So what’s the problem?” I asked Jack as he looked through his spyglass. Five men stood on their knees in front of a crew unlike anything I have ever seen. They looked and stood like men, but were no more than various sea creatures of the deep. And the man, who stood with purpose and was talking to the men (obviously the captain) was a strange hybrid of man, crab, and squid. “He seems to be buying it.” said Jack, a bit surprised. “He?” I asked. But Jack did not need to explain, for while he was still looking through the spyglass, Davy Jones himself had warped himself to the deck of the Black Pearl… along with his crew members. The crew member with the head of a hammerhead quickly went down below the Pearl and came up with a struggling and vaguely familiar woman. “You have a debt to pay.” said Davy Jones to Jack. But I was not concentrating on the fact that the Devil himself was onboard the Pearl. I was just staring in disbelief at the woman the shark had captured. As I walked towards them, the woman punched the Shark in the face, twisted his arm, and thrown him overboard. Just as Davy Jones finished saying “Three Days”, the shark hit the water with a splash. The woman wiped the sweat off her brow and panted. I clapped my hands, startling her. She quickly grabbed for her pistol and aimed it right at my heart, just as she did about a year ago.” “Why is it that anytime I see you, I always end up in this situation?” I asked with a suave grin on my face. She looked at me, confused. “Not you! Him!” she said, pointing the pistol at Davy Jones, who pushed me out of the way and grabbed her arm with his claw, causing her to drop the pistol. “Are you through running yet, Rose? And no hello for your uncle?” hissed Davy. I blinked. Was I hearing what I think I was hearing. “You are no uncle of mine.” she said, spitting in his face. He regarded it and wiped the spit off his face. Strangely enough, Jack and the rest of the Black Pearl crew were too stunned about what just was exchanged between Jack and Davy that they paid no attention to what was happening on the bow. “Best you listen up, or you’ll end up with the same fate as your family.” said Davy, and as he said it, Rose’s hand began to decay as Davy squeezed harder. “Wait!” I spoke up. Davy Jones turned his gaze on me. “And what are you? Another soul given willingly by Jack?” he laughed. “You already have your payment, Jones. One soul to serve on your ship.” I said. Once again I put my friend’s life in jeopardy. “As I said before, one soul is not equal to another.” He said. “But hear me out, Jones. We both know Jack isn’t going to be able to get one hundred souls for you in three days. He can’t even get a straight hand in poker in three days!” I said, not entirely sure what I was saying. But Davy Jones seemed to understand for he released Rose’s hand and walked up to me. “If you can guarantee Sparrow will fail, I will lay off the hunt for her at the moment.” Said Davy Jones. “Nearly we always draw off the beaten track, Jones.” I said. He laughed and shook my hand. “Then we have an accord!” said Davy Jones, trying to peel back his squid like hand. He then turned on Rose. “Don’t expect it to be over. Yer boyfriend here may have saved you now, but don’t get too comfortable. For your time is almost up.” With that, he disappeared. Rose and I just stood there, looking at each other. “So you were stowed away on this ship for almost a year?” I asked in amazement. She shook her head. “Not exactly. For about six months. After you set off from Tortuga, I stowed away, stupidly not knowing of Jack’s debt.” she growled. I laughed. “Trust me, we didn’t know either.” She laughed too. “But what the bloody hell? You’re cursed and a spawn of the devil?” she cracked me across the face. “I am not him.” she growled. “My mistake, but what the bloody hell is going on?” I asked, rubbing my face. She merely sighed and smiled. “Like you said, we all have skeletons in our closet. Mine are just fish.”
Chapter Nineteen: A Connection - Spoiler:
Three days had passed and Jack had only gotten no less than four new souls for payment. The rest of the time he continued to badger Elizabeth Swann, who had joined our motley crew dressed as a boy on Tortuga. Jack decided to use Elizabeth as the means to find the Heart of Davy Jones, the sole purpose of the entire adventure. If anyone possesses the Heart of Davy Jones, he or she has complete control of the sea. Good for the pirates, but bad if it fell into the hands of Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company. Rose and I continued to talk to each other, sharing our various adventures during the year. Apparently we both fought in the War against Jolly Roger strangely enough, but never ran into each other. She told me of her previous lover who went his own way, I told her of sailing with Jack Sparrow and what to expect from Jack Sparrow. “So what really is the reason Davy Jones is after you, Rose?” I asked her out of the blue. She just turned away. “It’s none of your concern.” she mumbled. I turned her to face me. “It will be soon enough.” I said “Why do you say that?” “I intend to use the heart as… leverage.” “Leverage?” “For you.” She looked at me, a certain gleam in her eye. “Why would you do that for me?” she asked “I still have a debt to pay to you.” I said. She looked confused. “And what would that be?” “To get you safely to land.” I smiled. She smiled and put her hand on my chest. “I’d prefer this… ‘leverage’ better.” She smiled. Before I knew it, we shared a kiss. A kiss more passionate than ones I had shared with Scarlett. Rose was more fierce, more adventuress, more piraty. After a moment, we pulled away quickly, both feeling awkward. “Well… Good night, Miss Jones.” I said, walking out of her cabin. “What’s the hurry?” she said with a sly smile. “And it’s Rose. Just… Rose…”

| Chapter Twenty: Can't Let You Do That - Spoiler:
“Land Ho!” screamed Scurvy Joe from the crow’s nest. Rose and I came clambering up from below, fingering with the buttons of our coats back on. As we went up, we saw Jack panic a little and say “I want my jar of dirt!” and dash into the Captain’s Quarters. Before we knew it, we were in a longboat with Jack, Elizabeth, former Commodore Norrington, and Pintel and Ragetti, who were arguing over how to say Kraken, until Rose just lashed out and said. “It doesn’t matter how you say it! It’s a giant squid that wants to kill you!” that quickly shut Pintel and Ragetti up while I just laughed. As we landed on the beach of Isla Cruces, Jack picked up a shovel, threw one to Norrington, and took off his jacket to Pintel and Ragetti. “Guard the boat. Mind the Tide… and don’t touch my dirt.” said Jack and walked away. Pintel and Ragetti looked at each other, and then at us, who were making our way down the beach. We soon ended up on the other side of the beach on the coast. Jack went up to a hill and stood there, looking proud and confused as usual. Rose and I just shook our heads. Elizabeth continued to walk around with his compass, trying to find the burial place of Davy Jones’ Heart. She shook it frustrated after looking at Jack. “It doesn’t work. And it certainly doesn’t show you what you want most!” she said, sitting down, frustrated. Jack slowly crept up on the compass to see it was pointing right where Elizabeth was sitting. “Yes it does. You’re sitting on it.” He said to her. She turned to him confused. “Beg your pardon?” she asked. “Move.” He said, waving his arms at her. She quickly got up. He snapped and whistled to Norrington, who began to shovel.
Soon enough, Mr. Norrington struck something. Jack stood up out of his meditation and Rose and I stopped talking to each other. We all looked down into the hole and pulled out a steel chest. Jack broke the lock with one of the shovels and slowly lifted the lid. Inside we found mementos of a love lost; faded love letters, a pearl necklace that I tucked away and gave to Rose who gleamed just as much as the pearls did, dried flowers, and a small chest. Jack lifted the small chest and rested it on the edge of the larger chest. The five of us gradually put our ears to the small chest and waited. A beat. We all jumped back a bit, smiles slowly coming across our faces. “It’s real.” said Elizabeth in astonishment. “You actually were telling the truth.” said Norrington to Jack. Jack looked at him. “I do that quite a lot! Yet people are always surprised.” said Jack. “With good reason!” said a familiar voice from behind. We all turned around to see a drenched Will Turner. Elizabeth quickly ran up to his embrace and kissed him. From the corner of my eye, I saw Norrington’s face quickly sulk. Jack just looked so confused. It was then that Elizabeth discovered that Jack sold out Will to Davy Jones just to save his own skin. Meanwhile, Will crouched down at the chest, a knife in hand. “Oy! What are you doing?” asked Jack. “I’m gonna kill Jones.” said Will. He then turned to see Jack’s sword right in his face. “Can’t let you do that, William. Cause if Jones is dead, who’s to call his terrible beasty off the hunt, eh?” said Jack. Will slowly started to get up, sheathing his knife. Jack held out his hand. “Now, if you’ll please. The key.” Will pondered for a moment, then quickly grabbed Elizabeth’s sword and held it at the ready. “I keep the promises I make Jack. I intend to free my father. I hope you’re here to see it.” said Will. I quickly drew my sword. “Sorry, my friend, but I keep my promises as well. I intend to free Rose from Jones. I need that heart as a matter of leverage.” I smirked. Rose grinned from the sidelines. Before Will could retort, Norrington drew his sword on me. “I can’t let you do that either. So sorry” he said. Jack grinned. “I knew you’d warm up to me an-“ before Jack could say anymore, Norrington pointed his sword at Jack, I pointed mine at Norrington, Will pointed his at me, and Jack just being confused pointed it at Will. “Lord Beckett desires the contents of that chest.” said Norrington. “I deliver it, I get my life back.” “Ah, the dark side of ambition.” said Jack. “Oh I prefer to see it as the promise of redemption.” said Norrington, who swung his sword at me. I quickly blocked it and so began the most kick A** four way sword fight the Caribbean has ever seen!
Chapter Twenty One: The Fight for the Key - Spoiler:
[spoiler]We continued to clash swords over and over again while Elizabeth yelled frantically that “this was barbaric!” and “This is no way for grown men to settle--- Oh FINE! Let’s just pull out our swords and start BANGING away at each other. THAT WILL SOLVE EVERYTHING!” and that she’s had it with “wobbly legged, rum-soaked PIRATES!” We just simply paid no attention to her. Rose looked at her as if she was mad as a hatter, and then eventually ran off with her to stop Pintel and Ragetti, who now had the chest. Clash after clash we fought. We fought all the way down the beach, fighting only for one little key. Eventually our fight took us to an abandoned and crumbling old church. Jack, now in possession of the key, scrambled up the wooden stairs of the church, Norrington and I in pursuit, Will still trying to catch up. Jack, Norrington, and I clashed swords, ducking and parrying incoming attack from each of us. I soon disarmed Jack, his blade whistling down to the bottom. Norrington then punched me in the face and pinned Jack to the wall, grabbing the key. Jack swung Norrington’s sword in Norrington’s hand at the rope necklace of the key, but in doing so, sent him and me off balance. We quickly both grabbed the rope used to chime the church bell. Will, on the bottom, quickly grabbed the second rope, pulling himself up as Jack and I plummeted down. Will grabbed the key right out of Norrington’s hand and reached for the highest balcony. “By your leave, Mr. Norrington!” yelled down Will, which sent Norrington in full pursuit.
Down below at the beach, the water began to ripple. Suddenly the cursed crew of Davy Jones began to make their way onto the beach. They walked over to the open chest, in stark surprise, but then began to hear the church bell. They roared to life and charged through the jungle. Meanwhile, the four of us men continued to clash swords, now on the roof of the church. I quickly retained my ground and sped up to catch up with Will and Norrington, by cutting the rope that held me and Jack. I went up, Jack went down. Anyway Norrington, Will, and I were locked in an epic battle, while Jack, who was just upstaging us all, came swaggering to the roof, trying so hard to get the key from Norrington without being noticed. When he got it, it wasn’t unnoticed. Jack, who now was in front of me, clashed swords with Will and Norrington, finally being disarmed. I then had no choice but to defend a friend. Norrington turned to Will. “Do excuse me while I kill the man who ruined my life.” “Be my guest.” said Will. Jack quickly turned the tables. “Now let’s examine that claim for a moment, former commodore, shall we? Who was it, that at the very moment you had a notorious pirate safely behind bars, saw fit to free said pirate, and take your dearly beloved all to hiself, eh?” Norrington considered that for a moment. Jack continued. “So who’s fault is it really that you’ve ended up a rum pot deckhand what takes orders from pirates?” “ENOUGH!” yelled Norrington, swiping at Jack’s head. Jack quickly ducked and rolled off the roof and fell on his A**. I caught Norrington’s blade in his fury. Norrington turned to Will. “Unfortunately, Mr. Turner, HE’S RIGHT!” clashed Norrington. Now it was two friends against one pathetic man in the world. Jack yelled up to Norrington, sheathing his sword. “Still rooting for you, mate!” and scampered off while I was locked in battle.
Chapter Twenty Two: Wheel of Fortune - Spoiler:
The three combatants took the fight all the way to a very old and rusty water wheel. Will took a leap onto it, followed by Norrington. Once I put one foot on the wheel, it broke out of its restraints and began to move! I quickly piled onto the wheel as the three of us continued our fight. The clanging of our swords echoed through the jungle as the wheel kept rolling. Then I felt something rather odd on the wheel. I looked down to see a pair of legs kicking and just rolling on by. Jack… Figures. We kept rolling and rolling through the jungle. Out of the corner of my eye, I could make out the figures of Rose and Elizabeth, pointing one sword at Pintel and Ragetti while Elizabeth just looked at them innocently. The two nit-wits dropped the box they were carrying and drew out their swords, advancing. But suddenly, a battle axe hit the closest tree near the four. They turned frantically to see the cursed crew of Davy Jones stampeding towards them. I could see no more for if I kept a watch on Rose, Norrington would have decapitated me right there. I took a slice at Will’s head. He quickly ducked and fell on the wheel. He then disappeared into the wheel. Norrington and I, looking a little confused, just kept fighting. But the sound of jingling and the sound of a sword being drawn made me leap right into the wheel to find that Jack had entered the fight again and that the key was hanging on the wheel by a rusty nail! We kept fighting. It was Jack vs Norrington, then it was Norrington vs Will, then it was Will vs me, then it was me vs Norrington, and on and on it went in a dizzy display of rolling. Will met Jack’s attack and caught the key rope in his grip. The two pulled hard. Will ended up with the rope and Jack ended up with the key. Jack grinned, but then quickly parried Will’s on coming blade. Jack then quickly made himself up the wheel, grabbed onto a palm tree leaf, and let me, Will, and Norrington roll away down a very large hill. The three of us just couldn’t fight each other anymore. We just held on for dear life screaming bloody murder as the wheel kept rolling faster and faster! The wheel hit a bump and we honestly went five feet up into the air! That was probably the scariest ride I’ve ever been on in me entire life. It made a hurricane look like child’s play! We rolled all the way to the beach, taking down a few of Jones’ crew as we rolled slower and slower, until we finally toppled over. Will, Norrington and I staggered out of the wheel. Will drew out his sword again and tried to run towards the fight, only resulting in falling face first in the water. Norrington, looking drunk, staggered towards the longboat while Will got up, tried to run, and fell over again. As for me, I had to puke. After I was feeling less light headed, I ran towards the fight, stabbing one of the men in the back who was about to decapitate Rose. She turned around to see me. She smirked. “You look bloody awful.” she said. I merely laughed and then focused back on the fight. The Fish Crew kept pushing us back towards the longboat. I heard a loud thud and then “WILL!” cried Elizabeth. I quickly turned to see Will knocked unconscious. Jack stepped in front of Elizabeth. “Leave him lie! Unless you plan on using him to hit something with.” said Jack. Jones’ crew began to creep closer and closer to us. “We’re not getting out of this.” said Rose. “Not with the chest,” said Norrington, grabbing the chest out of the longboat. Elizabeth looked mortified. “You’re mad!” she yelled. “Don’t wait for me.” he said and dashed down the beach, the fish crew chasing after him. We all just looked at him go. “I-I say we respect his final wishes.” I said. “Aye!” said Rose and Pintel together. We all turned quickly to load ourselves, and the unconscious Will, into the longboat and row back to the Black Pearl.
Chapter Twenty Three: The Kraken - Spoiler:
As we returned back to the Pearl, I helped Elizabeth haul Will’s body onto the deck for him to recover Jack’s blow. Once we put him down, I helped Rose out of the longboat and the crew began to haul the longboat onto the Pearl. Gibbs hurried down the stairs towards us. “Where’s the Commodore?” he said, a little frantic. Jack and I said in unison, “Fell behind.” “My prayers be with him….. That’s enough wallowin’ in our grief! The bright side is, you’re back. And you made it off free and clear!” said Gibbs, happily. Before Jack could answer, a huge watery explosion erupted off our port side. We all turned to see the horrific Flying Dutchman shoot out of the water. Rose just stared menacingly at Jones, but Jack merely pushed her aside and grinned. “I’ll handle this, mate.” said Jack. I could only chuckle a little and just watch what Jack was thinking up. Jack held up his jar of dirt. “Oy! Fish Face! Lose somethin’? Eh? Squinchile?! A—“ He took a tumble down the stairs of the Pearl. We all either laughed or just went oooooooh. But Jack just picked himself up and held the jar up again. “Got it! Come to negotiate, eh have you, ya slimy git? Look what I got? I’ve got a jar of dirt! I’ve got a jar of dirt! And guess what’s inside it?” Jack smiled. I just looked completely confused, until Rose nudged me in the ribs. “He has the heart!” she half whispered half exclaimed. Before I could answer though, the Flying Dutchman’s starboard cannons began to emerge from faces carved in the ship… Or were they faces of lost souls? “Hard to starboard…” said Jack, sheepishly. “Hard to starboard!” yelled Elizabeth “Brace up the foreyard!” yelled Will. The crew was in motion. I jumped down from the helm to help the crew out as Jack scurried away. I saw Rose climbing up the rigging to lower more of the sails. I quickly rushed after her. Once we both got to the top, we nodded, I winked, and we pulled hard, releasing the main sail. But the Pearl shook from incoming cannon fire from the Dutchman. I heard Rose mutter, “Damn triple guns…” But then we began to notice… “She’s falling behind!” I heard Elizabeth say as Rose and I slid down the riggings. Gibbs laughed “Aye, we’ve got her!” he said. Will looked confused. ‘We’re the faster?” he asked. Rose chimed in. “Against the wind, The Dutchman beats us. That’s how she takes her prey! But with the wind,” “we rub her advantage.” finished Will. Rose nodded and went back to the helm. A moment later, Marty climbed up the rigging and looked south. He pointed. “They’re givin’ up! YEAH!!!” cheered Marty. The whole crew, except for Will and Rose cheered. In my celebration, I turned to see Rose, who only looked worried. “What’s wrong, love?” I asked her. She looked at me, fear in her eyes. “It’s coming….” she choked. I looked at her as if she was mad, while Will argued with Jack in the background. I held onto Rose’s shoulders to steady her. “What? What’s coming?” I asked, a little apprehension in my voice, trying to cover it up. She seemed not to notice. No one did once the Pearl shook from the might of some mysterious… thing. In the background, I heard glass shattering to the deck. I turned to see Jack in a mad frenzy, looking through the broken jar of dirt. “Where is it? Where is the Thump Thump?” he panicked. Thump Thump…? THE HEART! He didn’t have the bloody heart! “It’s not a reef!” I heard Will shout. He quickly grabbed Elizabeth away from the rail. “What is it?!” she asked “The Kraken…” finished Rose. I saw in the corner of my eye that Jack had an “Uh-Oh” face on. Immediately, the crew was in action, loading guns, taking out various cutleries, and waiting for Will’s signal. I was in motion, pulling out my cutlass, but I then turned to see Rose, standing petrified. I sighed and ran to her, hauling her over my shoulder. “Now’s not the time to freeze up, love!” I yelled as I ran across the deck to the Captain’s Cabin. I set her down on the bed. She still just stared up in space, petrified. I had to look after her later. Right now, I needed to fend off this monstrous cephalopod from dragging the Pearl to the crushing darkness.
“FIRE!” roared Will. The Pearl erupted in cannon fire, hitting the gigantic tentacles that were engulfing the ship. They smashed violently on the deck, breaking many of the longboats. “Damn… that’s a problem.” I muttered to myself. Strangely enough, though, the tentacles began to slide back into the ocean. Something didn’t seem right. “It’ll be back.” I heard Will say to Elizabeth. I quickly walked over to them. Will continued. “We have to get off the ship.” “There’s no boats.” I said. We all turned to see the crushed boat and a barrel roll by. It was so bizarre how Will and I had the exact same thought. We quickly began barking orders. “Haul the crates!” yelled Will. “Get all the gunpowder into the net in the cargo hold!” I barked. The men quickly began to do so. I saw Will hand Elizabeth a rifle and warn her not to miss before I went down below. The crew hauled all the crates of gunpowder… but only six barrels! Will hurried down the stairs. Gibbs and I quickly rushed towards him. “There’s only half a dozen kegs of powder!” said Gibbs frantically. Without batting an eyelash, Will said the unspeakable. “Then load the rum!” I stood there, horror struck as Will ran back up the stairs. The entire crew was just awestruck. Eventually I had to speak up, even though it pained me to do so. “Aye, the rum too!” I sighed. The crew loaded the rum, basically crying over its loss.
There was another BOOM! and the Pearl shook violently again, causing us all to stagger back and fall. I heard Marty say “Not good” and the tentacles, immediately on cue, sprang to life. It was chaos. The Kraken destroyed anything in its path. The stairs were mangled and splintered, the windows of the Captain’s Cabin were shattered, the rails were split in two, etc. So much devastation. So much blood. So much death. The Kraken is a mindless killing machine. It doesn’t think, it doesn’t feel, it just kills.
The crew hoisted the cargo net high up to the sky, Will hanging onto it. It was up to Elizabeth to shoot the gunpowder and rum to cause a devastating blow to the Kraken, hopefully weakening it enough to escape. I fought the tentacles madly, slicing and dicing them in every swing, trying to save doomed crew members, but to no avail. Suddenly, I felt a tentacle hoist me high into the air, swinging me around. I tried desperately to cut the tentacle or free myself from its massive grip. But to my surprise, it stopped completely and I fell to the ground. A minute later, I saw why. When I looked at the tentacle around my waist, it was severed. Severed cleanly off its host. I sat up and turned to see Rose with a bloody axe in her hand. I could only smile. “I saved your A**, and now you’ve saved mine. I think our debt is settled.” I winked. She smiled and helped me up. “It’s about time I face my fears when someone I care about is hanging upside down.” she grinned. Wow, Rose really did have a heart. I returned the grin and went in for a kiss but then the explosion of the cargo net caught us off guard. Our attention was drawn to Captain Jack Sparrow, rifle in hand and Elizabeth clutching his leg. We then looked to see the burned and charred tentacles of the Kraken, slowly moving back into the water. The nightmare was over. “Did we kill it?” asked Marty. Rose just shook her head solemnly. “No… We’ve just made it angry.” she groaned. “We’re not out of this yet! Cap’n! Orders?!” asked Gibbs as Jack walked down from the helm. Jack handed me the rifle and looked at Gibbs. “Abandon ship. Into the longboat.” said Jack, emotionless. Gibbs looked at him in horror. “But Jack! The Pearl.” he said. Jack just sighed. “She’s only a ship, mate.” “He’s right, we have to head for land.” said Elizabeth. Jack looked at her. “It’s a lot of open water.” said Pintel. “It’s a lot of water.” seconded Ragetti. “We have to try.” said Will. “We can get away as it takes down the Pearl.” “Abandon ship…” I said, holding onto the railing. “Abandon ship or abandon hope.” I motioned Rose to the stairs while Pintel and Ragetti lowered the longboat. As she went down into the longboat, I saw Jack just taking one last look at the Pearl. I had to as well. For the Pearl was my home. It was for the last ten years. Never again would I see her magnificent sails, her beautiful helm, and her marvelous rum cellar. All would be gone to the crushing darkness of Davy Jones Locker. I quietly walked over to Jack, resting a hand on his shoulder, patting it, and then going into the longboat, waiting for everyone else.
After a few moments, Elizabeth finally joined us in the longboat. Will just looked at her, a hint of malice in his gaze. “Where’s Jack?” he asked her. She fell silent. Holding back her emotions, she replied “He elected to stay behind to give us a chance.” Immediately, we all turned up to the Pearl. The admirable captain going down with his ship. As it should be. “GO!” barked Elizabeth, getting our concentration back to the situation at hand. Pintel and Ragetti grabbed an oar and rowed far from the Pearl. Far away.
A sight that I will never be able to erase from my memory is the sinking of the Black Pearl. The Krakens tentacles wrapped around the ship, one after another, until the giant fish was basically on top of the ship, weighing it down. Slowly the stern began to sink, followed by the deck, and finally the bow disappeared. Rose put her arm around my waist. The sails were swept away from the world. And everything… was gone.
Chapter Twenty Four: This Is Just the Beginning - Spoiler:
After many hours of rowing, we finally reached Pantano River. We slowly rowed into the swamp village, where to our amazement, we found the locals standing in the water, candles lit, and faces wet with tears. The mourners of Jack Sparrow guided us to Tia Dalma’s shack slowly. As soon as we reached the shack and entered it, we all felt the brutal chill of loss. Elizabeth sat in a corner, her eyes wet and red, Gibbs just stared out the door, and Will continued to slam his knife into Tia’s wooden table. Rose and I sat together, my arm around her. Even though Jack was vile to her, she felt pity for the dead captain. As for me, I had lost a dear friend. A partner in crime. Someone who invited me onto his ship despite the fact that he was feuding with my uncle. Deep down in his black heart, Jack had compassion. Tia brought us cold drinks which took me out of my state of pensiveness. “Against the cold and the sorrow.” she told us. We both accepted the drinks and just laid back in the hammock, thinking and listening to what the rest of the crew was saying. “It’s a shame,” said Tia as she approached Will, offering him a drink. “I know that you were tinking that wit de Pearl, you could have captured de Devil and set free yer father’s soul.” “It doesn’t matter now… The Pearl’s gone… along with its captain” said Will. “Aye,” I spoke up “and already the world seems a bit less bright.” “He fooled us all, right to the end. But I guess that honest streak finally went out.” said Gibbs, raising his glass. “To Jack Sparrow!” “Never another like Captain Jack!” said Ragetti. “He was a gentleman of fortune, he was!” said Pintel. “He was a good man…” said Elizabeth, weakly. “A fierce friend!” I raised my glass. We all took a sip and put our glasses down into our laps. Rose then rested her head on my shoulder. “You never struck me as one who knew of loss, Hector.” she said. I sighed heavily. “I lost my mother and father at the age of six and recently my uncle. Unless you forgot with that blow to the head you had.” I chuckled a little. She smiled softly, but then became serious. “You… never told me about your parents… I’m so,” she started, but I cut her off. “Yes I know, you’re sorry. But it’s not your fault. Nor will it ever be. So really there’s no need.” I said. Before she could retort or apologize, Tia quickly turned on Will. “Would you do it? Hmm?” she turned to the entire crew, we included. “What would you-what would any of you be willing to do? Would you sail to de end of de earth and beyond to fetch back witty Jack and him precious Pearl?” apparently the crew was talking rubbish about trying to resurrect Jack, and Tia was just toying with their misery. But when I examined her face, I saw no signs of joking or misgiving. Was she actually for real? Either way, I immediately sat up from the hammock, thumped my fist on the table nearest me and said “Aye!” “Aye!” went Gibbs “Aye!” went Pintel “Aye!” went Ragetti “Squawk! Aye!” went Cotton’s parrot “Yes…” said Elizabeth, still crying a little. “Aye…” said Will. Tia grinned. “Alright. But if you are to brave the weird and haunted shores at World’s End, then you will need a Captain, who knows those waters.” said Tia, turning to the staircase. Right on cue, the door upstairs creaked open. The crew all got up, curious on whom was walking down the stairs. They were only able at first to make out his dusty, yet elegant old boots take each step slowly, yet a little dramatically in holding suspense. Then his soiled trousers were visible, followed by his long flowing dark green waistcoat. Before the man completely came down the stairs, he reached out his hand, and his long, dirty fingernails rummaged in a bowl of fruit. On finding a green apple, the hand, more of a creature’s hand than a man’s, retracted. Then the man came into full view. My smile stretched for miles while the rest of the crew stared in disbelief. “So tell me,” said Captain Hector Barbossa “What’s become of my ship?”
Chapter Twenty Five: The Song Has Been Sung - Spoiler:
As soon as Uncle Barbossa walked down the stairs of Tia Dalma’s shack, a silver coin on the table began to spin madly and ring loudly. The crew just stared at it, but Barbossa, Tia, Gibbs, and I all just had grins on our faces. Noticing my creepy smile, Rose intervened. “What is it? What’s going on?” she asked. Before I could answer her, Barbossa was in motion. “Gentlemen… Ladies… The time is upon us! Although we cannot continue forward until we take a few steps back. We have a venture on our way. A venture that cheats all possibilities of immortality, of death itself. We are to venture to the dark abyss of Davy Jones’ Locker!” at that, the crew gasped and Rose tensed up. I tried to comfort her, but to no avail. Barbossa continued. “We venture to the Locker to retrieve, as our dear friend Tia Dalma said before, to fetch back Sparrow and the Black Pearl.” Elizabeth stood up. “Is that possible?” she asked, a little hope in her voice that didn’t go unnoticed by Will. Rose finally eased up and finished. “Yes… it is… If we sail to the end of the Earth… there’s a… waterfall that will send us shooting down into the crushing abyss.” she said plainly. I could tell that anything having to do with the monster that is Davy Jones made her on edge. Barbossa grinned and nodded, picking up the spinning coin and holding it in front of the crew. I picked up on what it was immediately, but Rose had a little trouble comprehending it. “The song has been sung, mates. We must convene the Brethren Court, but cannot until all the Pirate Lords are accounted for.” said Barbossa. I nodded. “Jack?” I asked. He grinned. “Aye… Jack.”
Chapter Twenty Six: Singapore - Spoiler:
Singapore’s harbor was a dark and shadowy place, full of mysteries, smugglers, cutthroats, and murderers. Tall and small junk ships were piled close together next to ramshackle docks. Tall huts were used as apartments that wound through the busy, yet quiet streets. For they were quiet because of the East India Trading Company’s occupation of the port. I hid in the shadows of the dock closest to the sewers along with Uncle Barbossa and Rose, now a true pirate more than a stowaway girl. Her long black hair was tied back in a ponytail which was then wrapped in a red bandana. Her lace shirt that she so often wore was now ripped and shambled after the adventures the Black Pearl Crew has had by getting to Singapore. Along the way of our travels, she also acquired a short black coat which she took from an EITC Naval Officer. I honestly could now not see the girl who was adrift at sea anymore. Now I saw a true pirate bride. She gave me a wink as we waited for the small boat to dock. In the darkness, we could hear the occupant of the boat singing very softly and quietly. “Yo-ho. Haul together. Hoist the colours high.” the woman docked and tied up the small boat and continued. “Heave ho-“ “Thief! And Beggar! Never say we die…” finished an unfamiliar voice in the dark. At that moment, three Chinese pirates approached the woman. The one who finished the verse, Tai Huang, First mate to the notorious Sao Feng, stood right in front of the woman. “A dangerous song to be singing… For anyone ignorant of its meaning… Particularly a woman…” said Tai Huang. On that, Rose growled lowly. Tai Huang continued. “Particularly a woman alone.” “What makes ye think she’s alone?” asked Barbossa as he walked down the stone stairs to meet the man. Tai Huang didn’t look impressed. “You protect her?” he asked. At that, Elizabeth, Rose, and I whipped out daggers that we held to each of the Chinese pirates throats. “And what makes you think she needs protecting?” asked Rose, holding onto Tai Huang’s neck. Barbossa only sighed and directed his words to Tai Huang. “Yer master’s expectin’ us, and an unexpected death would cast a slight pall on out meetin’.” At that, Rose released Tai Huang. Suddenly one of Tai Huang’s men turned and signaled us into the shadows as a patrol of EITC men hurried through the streets. Tai Huang led us into the dark alleyways, out of sight of the EITC, making our way to the center of the port city. Hopefully the rest of the crew and Tia weren’t in any trouble thanks to the EITC.
Tai Huang led us to the busy marketplace of Singapore. The smell of raw fish and molding food from the steam of the house Tai Huang was leading us to filled our nostrils. Trying to ignore the smell, Elizabeth began to speak. “Have you heard anything from Will?” she asked Barbossa. “I trust young Turner to acquire the charts and for you to remember yer place in the presence of Captain Sao Feng.” said Barbossa. Rose laughed a little. “Is he that terrifying?” she asked. Barbossa shrugged. “He’s much like meself, but absent my merciful nature and sense of fair play.” he grinned. I chuckled. “Aye, ain’t you a team player, Uncle.” I winked. He snorted a little, but laughed. Finally we had arrived. Tai Huang knocked on the giant circular red door. A pair of eyes popped out, Tai Huang spoke the password, and the doors open. Tai Huang gestured to us to enter. The doors slammed shut and we stood in the entrance hall… of a bathhouse. “Your weapons.” said Tai Huang. Obviously Sao Feng trusted us as much as we trusted him. Rose and I began to unarm ourselves, taking out multiple pistols, daggers, hidden swords, bombs, and she even pulled out a blunderbuss. God knows where she kept that. When I saw Elizabeth pull out ANOTHER blunderbuss, I immediately picked up that those two learned from each other. By the dirty smile on Tai Huang’s face, I saw that he had other ways of exploiting us. When we began to move forward, he stopped Elizabeth and Rose. “Do you think because they are women that we would not suspect them of treachery?” he simply asked. Barbossa just sighed and grinned a little. “Well when you put it that way,” he said. I saw that Elizabeth and Rose wanted to kill that man. “Remove, please.” said Tai Huang. The girls began to strip, revealing more weapons hidden. Rose finished her weapons first, but Elizabeth had more… and more… and more up her sleeve. Once she put down the really big gun that she pulled out from her bodes, she tried to move again. Tai Huang stopped her, eyeing her pants. “Remove… please.” he grinned. Elizabeth looked disgusted and Rose looked a little relieved that she wasn’t stopped.
We began to walk the twisted maze of fungus filled bathtubs and pipes. The pirates inside the tubs actually had fungus growing off their skins and faces. But Rose and I were studying our surroundings. We observed that each of Sao Feng’s men were recognizable to the captain because of the same Dragon Tattoo each had. Finally we reached the center of the room, where two women stood on each side of a man, back to us, standing in the steam room. The man slowly turned in the steam to see who his visitors were. Barbossa and I bowed, gesturing to Rose and Elizabeth to do so. The man nodded. “Captain Barbossa… Welcome to Singapore.” said Sao Feng, Pirate Lord of Singapore. Barbossa nodded as Sao Feng ordered for more steam. “I understand you have a... request to make of me.” said Sao Feng. “More of a proposal to put ye. I’ve a venture underway and I find meself in need of a ship and a crew.” said Barbossa. Sao Feng scratched his bald head with his long dirty fingernails. “Hmm… This is an… odd coincidence.” “Because you happen to have a ship and a crew you don’t need?” asked Rose, before Barbossa could stop her. “No… Because earlier this day, not far from here, a thief broke into my most revered uncle’s temple, and tried to make off with these.” said Sao Feng, ripping a rolled up tube out of his old uncle’s hands and showing us. “The Navigational Charts. The route to the farthest gate.” he said, throwing the charts to Tai Huang. Sao Feng continued, stalking us like a predator on the hunt. “Wouldn’t be a coincidence… that this “venture of yours”, took you to the world beyond this one…” “It would strain credulity at that.” I said, with a little smile on my face. Sao Feng wasn’t in a smiling mood. He turned to two men who were holding a wooden pole in a bathtub. Feng nodded and the men hoisted the pole out of the water. A man was tied to it. A familiar man with a short beard and long brown hair. The spitting image of his father when he was young… Will struggled and gasped for air. Elizabeth’s eyes widened while Barbossa, Rose and I tried to keep our faces emotionless. Sao Feng walked over to Will and turned to us. “This is the thief. Is his face familiar to you?” Asked Sao Feng. All together, the four of us shook our heads slowly. Sao Feng ripped out a wooden spike from his belt. “The I guess, he has no further need for it.” said Sao Feng, smoothly. He was about to jam the spike right through Will’s face, until Elizabeth cried out. Barbossa and I just closed our eyes and cursed under our breaths as Sao Feng walked over to us, an evil smile across his face. “You come into my city… and you betray my hospitality…” he said. Barbossa tried to calm Feng down. Or he was trying to save our asses. “Sao Feng, I assure you, I had no idea-“ “THAT HE WOULD GET CAUGHT!” yelled Sao Feng. The pirates in the bathtubs began to stand up and slowly walk to the center of the bathhouse. Sao Feng stalked away, continuing. “You intend to attempt a voyage to Davy Jones’ Locker, but I cannot help but wonder… why?” Barbossa flipped him the same coin that was in Tia Dalma’s shack three months ago, when we set off on this voyage to Singapore to try and gain Sao Fen’g trust. Feng caught the coin and put it to his ear. It rang… He just stared in disbelief. “The Song Has Been Sung…” said Barbossa, slowly walking up. “The Time is Upon Us. We must convene the Brethren Court…” “As one of the nine pirate lords,” I finished for my uncle. “You must honor The Call…” Sao Feng clenched the Piece of Eight in his fist. “More steam…” he ordered. The girl pulled the rock, but the steam didn’t come as swiftly as it usually did. “MORE STEAM!” barked Sao Feng. The girl, looking confused, just pulled the rock again. That sign meant that our boys were now inside the bathhouse. We were gaining the upper hand if it would come to a blood fight. Eventually, the steam returned. “There’s a price on all our heads… It is true. Since it seems that the only way a pirate can turn a profit anymore,” Sao Feng looked to Will “Is by betraying other pirates…” “In the time before the Song, when the world was overrun by eldritch creatures, The First Brethren Court gave us rule of the Seas.” I said. Rose continued. “That rule has now been challenged by Lord Cutler Beckett.” “Against the East India Trading Company, what value is the Brethren Court?” asked Sao Feng. “What can any of us do?” “You can fight!” yelled Elizabeth. She just couldn’t hold her tongue. “You are Sao Feng, the Pirate Lord of Singapore! You command in the Age of Piracy, where bold captains sail free waters, where waves are not measured in feet but increments of fear, and those who pass the test become legend.” Truly it was poetry. “Would you have that era come to an end on your watch?” continued Elizabeth. “The most notorious pirates from around the world are uniting against our enemy, and yet you sit here, cowering in your bath water!” she hissed. I just closed my eyes. It was over. She blew it. Time to pack up and say goodbye. But Sao Feng walked over to her and circled her. “Elizabeth Swann… There is more to you than meets the eyes… And the eye… does not go wanting…” whispered Sao Feng. At that, Will struggled a little. Sao Feng turned to Barbossa. “But I cannot help but notice, YOU have failed to answer my question. What is it you seek in Davy Jones’ Locker?” “Jack Sparrow.” Will spoke up. The girls who stand next to Sao Feng giggled, but when their captain looked at them both, they stopped. “He’s one of the Pirate Lords…” I sighed. Sao Feng began to boil with anger. Barbossa and I just sighed. For we knew Jack had insulted Sao Feng by stepping foot in Singapore everytime the drunk captain washed up in the city. “The only reason I would want Jack Sparrow returned from the Land of the Dead… is so I can send him back MYSELF!” shouted Sao Feng, kicking over a table. Barbossa walked over to Sao Feng, looking serious. “Jack Sparrow holds one of the nine Pieces of Eight. He failed to pass it along to a successor before he died. So we must go and get him back.” Sao Feng wasn’t even paying attention to what Uncle Barbossa was saying. He was eyeing one of his men’s tattoos, which Rose noticed was fading away in the steam… She whispered to me. “A spy…” “So… you admit, you’ve deceived me.” said Sao Feng, coldly. Suddenly, he drew his sword. “WEAPONS!” all the Pirates sprang out of the bathtubs, weapons in hand. The four of us backed up. “Sao Feng, I assure you!” I said. “Our intentions are strictly honorable!” suddenly though, eight swords popped up out of the wooden floorboards thanks to the Black Pearl Crew. Each of us caught two in hand. Sao Feng grabbed the spy and held his sword to the spy’s throat. “Drop your weapons! Or I kill your man!” We just looked around, confused, and then shrugged. “Kill him, he’s not our man.” said Barbossa. Sao Feng looked at the spy, confused as well. “If he’s not with you, and he’s not with us,” said Will “Who’s he with?”
Chapter Twenty Seven: Admiral Tristen - Spoiler:
CRASH! The answer came smashing through the doors and windows. Chaos erupted once the East India Trading Company agents arrived. Every pirate turned to face the EITC agents. For we had to put aside the petty grievances that splintered us to face the EITC threat. Barbossa, Rose, and I were in full motion, killing any agent in our path. As I spun around, slicing a man’s throat, I saw Will use his imprisonment as a weapon, knocking over enemies and ramming them to walls. He then let a swing from a pirate’s sword set him free from his bindings. “Will!” yelled Elizabeth, throwing him a sword. He caught it and joined the fight. As I glanced up, I saw Beckett’s right hand man, Mr. Mercer; walk through the door, alongside a man, fully dressed in what it seemed to be Admiral attire. Once again, Rose froze, but she froze when she looked at the Admiral. The Admiral grinned a sly grin and clicked his pistol and aimed it right for Rose. Even though she wouldn’t die, do you really think I’d leave my girl to get shot? I quickly dashed in and grabbed her and ran off. The Admiral’s shot hit one of Sao Feng’s girls, who fell dead right into her sister’s arms. On the side, I tried to shake Rose out of it. “Rose! Love! Now ain’t the time to freeze up!” She didn’t move. I only sighed. “Why is it when we’re in the middle of a battle, you-“ before I could finish, we both turned to see a firing squad, aiming their guns at us, Barbossa, Sao Feng, Elizabeth, and Will. “Ready!” yelled the Officer. We all stood frozen. “FIRE!” but before the agents had a chance to pull the trigger, a massive explosion caused the floor under them to give way, causing them all to fall to their fates. Sao Feng ordered everyone outside, so we did what any true pirate does… Ran.
The fight continued through the streets and marketplace. Rose and I fought back to back, slicing down any in our path. We flipped people into the river, we gutted people, and we even sliced some of their limbs off. It was mass chaos. Until we were confronted yet again with that same grinning Admiral on the docks of Singapore. Rose quickly lifted her sword, but it was shot right out of her hand. The man had us at gun point. “Ah… Vengeance is sweet… How I had hoped to meet you again, Rose.” said the Admiral. I looked at Rose, then back to the man, then back at Rose, whispering “You know this man?” “Yes she does, McSkull. Oh yes, I know you as well. You’re a huge target to the EITC. The price on your head is equivalent, if not more, than your dear uncle Barbossa.” The Admiral said. Damn, he was good. The Admiral turned back to Rose. “Your mother and father have paid me a fortune to return you back to them.” “Those two curs are still living?” snorted Rose. The Admiral smacked Rose with the back of his hand. I tried to rush at him, but then he pointed the gun at me, still looking at Rose. “It’s your mouth that will be your downfall, Rose Jones.” “And your arrogance will be yours, Tristen.” retorted Rose. Tristen then looked to me. “Ah, so I see you’ve refused my offer for your hand for the bastard child of two of the worst-“ before Tristen could comprehend what was happening, I decked him right across the face. He went down, knocked out. Rose could only smile. “He can insult me all he wants, but when he insults your or my parents, his A** is mine.” I said. She kissed me on the cheek as the rest of the crew met with us on the dock. Barbossa, looking first at the knocked out man and then to me, winked and then turned to Will. “Ye have the charts?” he asked. Will threw him the charts. “And better yet. A ship and a crew.” “Where’s Sao Feng?” asked Elizabeth. Will just looked at her. “He’ll cover our escape and meet us at Shipwreck Cove.” said Will. Tai Huang then hurried us to the Hai Peng. Rose and I walked on deck together, our arms tangled together as the Hai Peng set sail for Davy Jones’ Locker.
Chapter Twenty Eight: Secrets Revealed - Spoiler:
The Hai Peng, a small yet reliable junk ship, sailed out of the dark waters of Singapore and into clearer waters. The route to World’s End wouldn’t be an easy one. I took the first watch of the night, sitting on top of the Captain’s Cabin in the dark night. I’ve always found the sea to be more beautiful at nightfall. How the moonlight shines across the water, how the sails of the ship cast silhouettes from the moonlight in the sea, how the--- “Tia, you have to help me!” said a voice in the dark. I slid into the shadows of the night to listen in on the conversation. I was able to make out two figures on deck. One obviously being Tia, and the other was covering her face. “Aye, I know love. I know. Wit Tristen as Admiral of the EITC, he would be able to command Davy Jones to track you down and-“ “No!” hissed the voice. The woman removed her hands. It was Rose. She was holding her stomach violently, covering her mouth as well. “What the hell is going on?!” she said as she barfed over the rail… charming. Tia looked first at Rose, then at her stomach, and I could have sworn she looked to where I was hiding, showing me a small grin, then turning back to Rose, who had resurfaced. “Ahh… I see what’s going on…” said the old voodoo mystic. Rose just glared at her. “Are you going to tell me or are you just going to reminisce about God Knows What?!” spat Rose. Tia pointed right at Rose’s stomach. “You’re wit child.” On hearing those words, both Rose and I gasped. “How…. How is that possible…?” staggered Rose. Tia smiled. “It’s his.” Tia said, this time looking at the spot where I was hiding. Rose looked where Tia was looking, but could see nothing but darkness. But she picked up on who’s child it was… and so did I…
Chapter Twenty Nine: At World's End - Spoiler:
Weeks passed. We soon found ourselves sailing through climate changing waters. One day, it’s burning hot, the next it’s below freezing. We were getting close. Night had swept over the world. The stars beautifully reflected on the ocean surface. In the far background of the waves moving with the Hai Peng, I could hear the beautiful lullaby music played by Tia Dalma in the Captain’s Cabin. I leaned on the rail of the bow, just trying to contemplate what would happen in the months to come, when I felt a familiar presence lean against the rail right next to me. “Troubled by sleep, Elizabeth?” I asked without looking up. Elizabeth just stared at the sea as well, her mind racing with many questions. “I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore, Hector.” she whispered. I looked up and solemnly nodded. “Aye, I know how ye feel, lass.” “No you don’t.” she said plainly. Defeated, I looked back to the ocean, just thinking. “It’ll all be over soon enough, lass…. At least for you…” the last few words I said in my mind. Before Elizabeth could answer though, Will approached us both from the dark. “How long will we continue not talking?” he said, causing the both of us to turn to face him. Seeing as though this was not my place to intervene, I crept past Will and walked down to the deck. I noticed that Rose was enjoying dinner with the rest of the crew. My black heart ached knowing that I basically anchored down her chances as a successful pirate forever, now that she’d have to mother this child… My child… The strange sound of water flowing drew my attention back to the sea. I climb one of the riggings to get a better view… of a waterfall. I grinned. “Just as he explained.” I winked, looking to the helm to see my uncle grinning as well. Will rushed down the deck and hurried up to the helm. I took a rope and swung all the way to the helm, landing right next to my uncle, almost crushing the monkey. The monkey screeched with anger, I shrugged, and then he climbed my shoulder. “Barbossa! Ahead!” yelled Will. Barbossa laughed. “Aye! We’re good and lost now!” “Lost?!” said Elizabeth in bewilderment. Barbossa turned to Elizabeth. “For certain you have to be lost to find a place as can’t be found. Elseways everyone would know where it was.” “We’re gaining speed!” said Gibbs, looking over the edge. Barbossa merely smiled. Will was in motion. “To stations! All Hands to Stations!” Will barked, causing all the men to either flip out of their hammocks or trip in the process of getting up and running like mad men. I saw Rose in all of the chaos merely stand on a rail, holding onto a rope and looking stern faced at the waterfall. “Rudder full! Hard to port! Gather way and keep her trim!” ordered Will. “NAY! Belay that!” I barked. Barbossa grinned next to me. “Let her run straight and true!” he grinned. The crew rushed up to the bow to get a look at their fate. I heard Ragetti issue a “Blimey…” and could only laugh a little. I walked over to Rose. “Love? Are you alright?” She didn’t even look down at me. She just kept staring at the waterfall. “Never thought I’d see this again…” she said. “Again?” I asked. She looked down at me and merely smiled. “I am the “spawn of the devil” as you yourself said before.” she said with a wink. I offered her a hand down and we both went to secure ourselves for the oncoming water ride of our lives.
All the pirates were running around madly except for me, Barbossa, and Rose. The three of us already secured ourselves by wrapping ropes around our arms and holding them, grinning at the waterfall. I saw Tia mutter incantations to her crab claws, I saw Elizabeth and Will still barking orders and I saw Jack the Monkey hide in one of the hats we acquired in Singapore. Will took the helm and tried to turn the Hai Peng around. But the current was too strong. It only made the Hai Peng move, but now only backwards. And then it began to tip a bit, then a bit more, then more, until finally we were at a 90 degree angle straight down. I gave Rose a kiss for good luck and I heard my uncle laughing maniacally in the background as the Hai Peng sailed off the Edge of the Earth.
Chapter Thirty: Davy Jones' Locker - Spoiler:
Waves carried us to the beach. We were drenched, a few of us dead, and our ship in ruin. But we made it. We made it to the Underworld, to Hell, to the Land of the Dead… We made it to Davy Jones’ Locker. A thought that was impossible logically, but possible through illogical reasoning. I helped Rose stand up and we all began to walk onto the beach. “This truly is a God forsaken place…” I breathed, still trying to catch our breath. “I don’t see Jack.” said Elizabeth “I don’t see anyone!” “He’s here. Davy Jones never gave up what he took.” said Barbossa, looking to Rose for encouragement, who gave him a seldom nod. “And does it matter?” barked Will “We’re trapped here by your doing, no different than Jack!” As Will was yelling at Barbossa, I saw Tia pick up a small rock and begin to stroke it. The rock began to break open revealing a set of eyes… and two pincers… Either my eyes were playing tricks on me or this really was the most bizarre place on the planet. Tia smiled. “Witty Jack is closa den you tink…” She turned to the horizon. On the horizon, something black began to poke over the sand dune. We all looked to the horizon. The thing began to grow more and more until it came into full view. The Mighty Black Pearl, moving by mysterious means, was heading right towards us. What was even more impossible… was that its captain was standing right on the mast, looking out to the ocean. A beautiful sight if I’ve ever seen one. The Black Pearl crashed down into the waves, causing little crabs to disperse in every direction. “Boat…” I heard Ragetti say, pointing to the Pearl. “Slap me thrice and hand me to me momma! It’s Jack!” cried Gibbs with a laugh. I saw in the corner of my eye Elizabeth begin to move forward, a huge smile on her face, but then she stopped and looked disturbed again… Was the reason why she was so disturbed was that she had feelings for Jack…? Was that why she was so sullen with me when we had our talk? My questions would have to wait, for we all made our way to the end of the beach, where Captain Jack Sparrow had just arrived. “It’s the Captain!” yelled Pintel. “Sight for sore eyes!” yelled Gibbs “Squawk! Hide the rum!” I heard Cotton’s Parrot say. We all rushed forward to Jack, who looked right out of his mind. “Jack!” said Gibbs. Jack turned on him. “MR. GIBBS!” barked Jack “Aye Capn?” said Gibbs, snapping to attention. “I thought so! I expect you’re able to account for your actions then?” said Jack. Gibbs just looked confused. “Sir?” “There has been a perpetual and virulent lack of discipline aboard my vessel. Why? WHY IS THAT, SIR?!” barked Jack. “Sir… You’re in Davy Jones’ Locker, Cap’n…” said Gibbs, trying to reason with Jack. Jack just froze up, looking off to the side, then looking back at Gibbs. “I know that! I know where I am. Don’t think I don’t!” said Jack. We all looked at Jack like he was out of his mind, but he seemed not to notice or was in a world of his own. Uncle Barbossa stepped forward, a sly grin on his face. “Jack Sparrow…” Jack turned to see Barbossa, smiling. “Ah! Hector! It’s been too long, hasn’t it?” said Jack, smiling. Barbossa returned the grin. “Aye… Isla de Muerta, remember? Ya shot me…” growled Barbossa. Jack was back in his own little world again. “No I didn’t.” he then turned to me “Ah! Little Hector! Still with the she devil, I see? Oh and here she is now!” Jack said, looking to Rose. Rose just grimaced at Jack. Jack then looked to Rose’s stomach. “Ooohhh! You’re starting to show a bit, Rosey dear.” Jack smiled. Rose decked him right in the face. We all came out with ooohhs and aaahhs and ouchs. Jack straightened back up, broke his nose back into place, and then smiled. “Very friendly!” he said, now turning to someone new. I saw that Rose’s cheeks blushed a bit, but then returned to their normal color. I think she was hoping that I was so oblivious at the moment that I didn’t notice what Jack said. I did, but if I brought it up, she’d be long gone…
After Jack finally realized we were in Davy Jones’ Locker, we began to tell him all that had happened. Cutler Beckett has the Heart of Davy Jones and controls the Flying Dutchman. He’s taking over the seas. The Song has already been sung. The Brethren Court is called. Jack looked at us all, just sighing. “I leave you people alone for two minutes, and look what happens! Everythin’s falling apart!” said Jack, starting to walk away. “Aye, Jack! The World needs ye back somethin’ fierce!” said Gibbs, trying to reason with Jack. Will stepped forward. “And you need a crew!” “Why should I sail with any of you? Six of you have tried to kill me in the past, one of you succeeded.” said Jack, pointing to Elizabeth. We all stood there, gapping at Elizabeth. She was the one who left him to the Kraken! That’s the reason why she was so sullen! She was being eaten away by guilt! Will just stared in disbelief at his fiancé. Jack continued, a sly grin on his face. “Oh! She’s not told you? You’ll have loads to talk about while you’re here.” Jack then turned to Tia. “As for you…” he started, but Tia used her womanly charm to reason with Jack. “Now, don’t tell you didn’t enjoy it all de time.” she flashed a smile. Jack only laughed a little, smiling. “Fair enough, alright, you’re in.” He turned to Ragetti. “Don’t need you, you scare me!” He then began to walk down the line of people. “Gibbs you can come, Marty, eeehhh…” The last one was saved for Pintel, who crept him out. “Hector, you’re invited. Just leave that one behind.” He said to me, indicating Rose, who gave him another slap. He grinned, and then slid over to Cotton. “Cotton! But Cotton’s Parrot… I’m a little iffy, but at least I’ll have someone to talk to.” he nodded at Cotton and then began to walk, but then noticed all of the pirates from Singapore. “And who are you?” asked Jack. “Tai Huang. These are my men.” said Tai Huang, indicating Sao Feng’s pirates. “Where do your allegiances lie?” “With the highest bidder.” said Tai Huang, without batting an eyelash. Jack grinned. “I have a ship!” “That makes you the highest bidder.” said Tai Huang. Jack looked satisfied. “Good man. Weigh anchor! All Hands! Prepare to make sail!” said Jack, taking out his compass as the crew began to make their way to the Pearl. The compass closed and Jack had on a confused face. I walked over to Uncle Barbossa with Rose. Jack looked over to us. Barbossa grinned. “Jack… Which way ya goin’ Jack…?”
Chapter Thirty One: Souls at Sea - Spoiler:
Bicker… bicker… bicker… That’s all Jack and Barbossa did. Two Captains; One Ship. A deadly combination. For knowing both captains, neither would live while the other survived. They’d argue over which direction to go. They’d argue over dinner. They’d even argue in their sleep! The Locker really makes victims completely mental. Rose continued avoiding me when not at dinner or in bed, and I knew the reason why. I half suspected though that she knew that I was suspicious, causing her to distance herself even further. I was treading in thin ice. Each step could have been my last. But I had to confront her. I had to at least try to rekindle what we had. I had a feeling she wanted to say more, but just couldn’t. I walked down to her cabin, seeing as though she spent most of her time there with Tia, and knocked on the door. “What?” barked Rose’s voice from inside. “It’s just me.” I said calmly. A moment later, a lock was undone and Tia stepped out, putting a comforting hand on my shoulder, smiling warmly, and walking back to the deck. I walked into the room. Rose, apparently, had already been put to bed rest to protect the baby. The windows were closed shut and the only light was from some lit candles lined randomly around the room. I walked in and sat on the end of her bed, kissing her hand. Even though she seemed upset, she still smiled. I reached into my coat, pulling out a bottle. By the look in Rose’s eyes, she was hoping it was rum. But when I handed it to her, she remembered and then realized that it was only water. She drank it down in a gulp from heat exhaustion as I took off my coat. “Really is hot as hell down here.” I said, sighing. Rose smirked “That’s because it is hell.” she chuckled. I laughed with her, but the awkwardness of silence soon came upon us both. Rose broke the silence, examining the bottle. “Only water? Why’s the rum always gone?” she snorted. “That’s the last of the water. All the rum dried up this morning.” I explained. This conversation was going nowhere. At one point, we both asked each other if we had on new clothes… We were REALLY beating around the bush, but the awkward silence was ended from some movement up on deck. I helped Rose out of bed and the two of us joined the crew, who was looking over the sides of The Pearl. On the clear water sailed little boats, carrying one person and one oil lamp. “What are they?” I asked “Souls lost at sea.” explained Rose. I saw in the corner of my eye Mr. Gibbs moving. As I turned, I saw him loading a rifle, but it was quickly put down by Will. “They’re no threat to us” said Will, but then turned to Tia Dalma “Am I right?” she nodded. “We’re nothin’ but ghosts to dem.” said the mystic. “It’s best just let them be.” said Barbossa. As we leaned on the railing, we saw various men and women, each dressed as nobles, dressed as pirates, and even little children were in boats. In one boat, I could’ve sworn I saw a man dressed in full regalia as a pirate captain, but he looked as if he could have been Rose’s father. But I think I was just seeing things. But what drew my attention was the nobleman, dressed in a light blue suit, wearing an ornate ostrich feather hat. His grey wig was still on his head. Elizabeth jumped up, ecstatic. “It’s my father! We’ve made it back! Father! Father here! Look here!” she desperately called to the former Governor of Port Royal. He did not turn her way. Rose and Tia hung their heads in silence for their friend’s soon to be pain. Jack walked up to Elizabeth, dead serious for once. “Elizabeth… we’re not back.” said Jack, gravely. Elizabeth looked mortified. Will tried to comfort Elizabeth, but she was in denial. It was then that we all learned that if one was to stab The Heart of Davy Jones, that that person’s heart would take its place, christening you as the new Captain of the Flying Dutchman. I saw a flash in Will’s eye on hearing that news while Elizabeth desperately threw a line over to her father. “Take the line!” she cried. Governor Swann could only smile at his daughter. “I’m so proud of you, Elizabeth.” “Father! The Line! TAKE THE LINE!” she screamed as the line slipped off her late father’s dingy. Crazed, Elizabeth dashed up to the helm as Rose and Tia shot out of grieving. “SHE MUST NOT LEAVE THE SHIP!” they both yelled. We all hurried to stop Elizabeth, who was trying desperately to get to her father. “I’ll send your love to your mother, shall I?” asked Swann as he turned his head back to gaze into the darkness while Will pulled Elizabeth down into his arms, where she sobbed harder than ever. Will looked to Tia for reassurance. “Is there a way?” Tia only shook her head solemnly. “Him at peace.” she said. I put my arm around Rose, who felt the same pain that her friend felt. “Gentlemen, hats off.” said Barbossa solemnly. The entire crew took off their hats in respect as uncle nodded at me. I reached for my pistol and shot a ceremonial shot into the sky for Governor Weatherby Swann; Loving Husband and Father.

| Chapter Thirty Two: Rock the Boat - Spoiler:
Days passed and the sun blazed more and more each day, drying up the remaining water and rum. With provisions running drastically low, the crew was on the verge of starvation and dehydration. Jack, on the other hand, was slowly but surely losing what’s left of his mind due to Locker Fever. He kept looking at Sao Feng’s charts, just randomly turning the wheels to see if he could crack anything. Elizabeth just sat alone, mourning the loss of her father. From time to time, Rose would go over and try to comfort her, but Elizabeth just wanted time to herself. Tia would do the same, but have the same outcome. It was amazing how a man’s death brought me and Rose a bit closer together. In the time that we were down in the Locker, she went from being upset and or furious to needing some comfort. I remembered back to one of our talks when she told me that her father had gone away to sea, never setting foot back on her god forsaken island home. So with the loss of Governor Swann, I think Rose was, in a matter of speaking, mourning her father as well. I was there with her the whole time.
The sun was really beating down on us. We suspected that we’d never escape from hell. Jack continued to be Jack and Uncle Barbossa just stood on the bow, surveying the horizon. “Why doesn’t he do something?” asked Will, impatient and staring at Barbossa. In the background, Ragetti was chasing after Jack the Monkey, who had Ragetti’s eye again. We all stepped over Ragetti as we paced back and forth, talking about how the hell we were going to escape. Gibbs just sighed. “There’s no sense to it.” “And the green flash comes at sunset… not sunrise!” said Will, still pondering the riddle. “Over the edge… It’s drivin’ me over the bloody edge!” I barked. “Sunrises don’t set!” said Gibbs, still troubled by this riddle as well. I then turned to Rose, who was sitting down and taking a deep breath in with her hand on her stomach. “Love, what does this riddle mean? Surely you of all people must know.” “Why? Because I’m ‘the spawn of the devil’”? she scowled. I took a step back. “All I meant was—“ “We really don’t have any more time for games, Rose. What does the riddle mean?” snapped Will. Rose’s head went back a bit from the harshness in Will’s voice. She sighed and shrugged her shoulders, standing up and walking towards everyone. “I couldn’t tell ya even if I wanted to. Squid Face never did share his secrets with the rest of the family… mainly because the rest of the family avoided him as much as possible…” she sighed. “But then maybe you could help us figure it out. It’d be better to have another brain in the circle.” said Will. Rose nodded and we continued spit balling ideas off one another, trying to crack this code. Meanwhile, unknown to us, Jack was on to it.
“What’s that?!” said Jack, springing to his feet and dashing over to the port side of the Pearl. Gibbs, Will, Rose, and I hurried next to him, trying to see whatever the hell Jack was seeing.” “What IS that? I don’t know. What do you think?” he asked himself. We could see nothing. “Where?” I asked. Jack was still convinced. “There!” Then he gasped and dashed over to the other side like a mad man. We all followed after him, picking up a few more recruits to Jack’s insanity search. Then Jack dashed back to the other side again. We followed. This continued on and on until I stopped and finally realized, “He’s rockin’ the ship…” I whispered mainly to myself in amazement. “We’re rockin’ the ship!” said Gibbs, still running with Jack and the rest. Barbossa looked down at the charts and grinned. I felt as though Barbossa, Tia, Rose, and I were the only ones who had the epiphany. Basically on cue, we all said to ourselves “Aye! He’s on to it!”
The Black Pearl tilted back and forth as the crew ran frantically back and forth on deck. The cannons were cut free, the cargo was unstowed, and we tried to time the rocking of the ship with the swells. Back and Forth and Back and Forth and Back and Forth and Back… and Forth and Back and Forth until the Pearl’s hull began to tilt right out of the water. We all clutched onto the sides for dear life. One of the Singapore pirates wasn’t so lucky, lost his grip, and fell into the riggings, where he was crushed by an incoming cannon. With that, the Pearl flipped more and more out of the water, until we were almost completely upside-down. “Now up… Is down” said Jack, with a confused look on his face as we all flipped right into the water. The burst of cold water was a wakeup call to many. We looked around underwater, trying to make heads or tails of the situation. On the far side of the upside-down Pearl, I saw Will being pulled down into the murky darkness of the Sea of Souls. I saw Elizabeth silently screaming, trying to help Will. She relaxed as she saw him hang on to a rigging and secure himself. I saw Tia, looking confused a bit, I saw Barbossa with a handsome scowl on his face, and I saw Rose, who was basically in a world of her own. As was I, as a matter of fact. But suddenly, we began going down farther…. Or was it up? Whatever direction we were going in, we were going very fast. Suddenly, a huge burst of water signified that we were actually heading up. The Black Pearl emerge from the water in the same fashion that the Flying Dutchman does. The Black Pearl Crew had returned to the Land of the Living with the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow. Lord knows that we’d have to probably go back and save him again once people learned of his rescue…
Chapter Thirty Three: Outrunning the World - Spoiler:
As we all turned to see the sun rise, Uncle Barbossa quickly pulled out his pistol on Jack. Instantly, all guns were on him. I pulled my pistol out on Jack and Gibbs. Rose pulled hers out on Jack and Will. Gibbs pulled his out on me and Barbossa. Jack pulled his out on Will, who pulled another out on him. Jack pulled his second one out on Elizabeth, who had one of hers pointed at him. The rest of the crew either joined in or stood and watched. Even the monkey joined in on the fun by pulling out a small pistol and aiming it at Cotton’s Parrot, who squawked out a “Parlay”. We all stood there, in a crossroad of murder. But being in a predicament like this was… quite amusing. I began to laugh to myself a little. Barbossa, looking at me, started laughing. There were snickers and giggles all around. Then Jack joined in on the hilarity. Then Will, the Elizabeth, until the entire crew was just snickering and laughing. “Alright then!” snapped Barbossa, and all of a sudden, all the pistols snapped back up again and the laughter died down. “The Brethren Court’s gatherin’ at Shipwreck Cove, and Jack, you and I are a goin’. There’ll be no arguin’ that point.” “I is arguin’ the point.” said Jack “If there’s pirates a gatherin’, I’m pointing my ship the other way” Elizabeth now aimed two pistols at Jack “The Pirates are gathering the fight Beckett and YOU’RE a Pirate.” she tried to reason. Jack merely pointed his other pistol at her. Will now pointed two at Jack. “Fight or not, you’re not running, Jack” said Will. Again, Jack merely pointed a pistol back at Will. “If we don’t stand together,” I started “They’ll hunt us down, one by one, til there’ll be none left… but you” Jack grinned. “I quite like the sound of that… Captain Jack Sparrow… The Last Pirate.” “Aye,” said Barbossa, in frustration a little, taking a closer step towards Jack “Then you’ll be fightin’ Jones alone, and how does that figure into yer plan?” “I’m still working on it,” grinned Jack “But I will not be goin’ back to the Locker, mate… You can count on that.” And with that, Jack pulled the trigger…. To all our surprises, though, the pistol just clicked. We all clicked our pistols, seeing if we could kill or maim anybody, but nothing would fire. Rose rolled her eyes and cursed under her breath. “Wet powder… I keep having the same damn problem every time…” With that, we all dispersed for a time, ignoring the yells from Pintel to use our pistols as clubs. Although Rose and I did hear the crunching of pistol to skull when Ragetti knocked Pintel on the head with his pistol.
We found a fresh water spring to resupply our provisions. Because the two couldn’t stop arguing, both Jack and Barbossa led the shore party, leaving Will in charge. Rose and I came along so there wouldn’t be any signs of swaying to a captain’s side in the Captain Debate. On that island, however, we found a disturbing discovery. Laying on the shores, its skin and tentacles slowly decaying from death and lack of water, lay the Devil’s pet itself: The Kraken. I turned to Rose. She was emotionless. We made our way down to see what had become of the beast. Jack had the same reaction as Rose did; not fully sure what to feel. As I looked into its still open orange eye, I saw the signs of shock and sadness. “The poor beast didn’t even see it coming…” Without even thinking, really, I closed its eye. Rose stood there, her face as cold as the Kraken’s dead skin. “The world is better off without it…” she said, her hands clenching into fists. I turned to her. “Is it really its fault that your life hasn’t been easy? It was merely a puppet under the command of the creature from Hell.” I tried reasoning, but Rose only continued to grow angrier. I sighed, walked over to her, and put an arm around her, but she pushed it aside and walked away from the Kraken. “Do you really think you can outrun the world, Rose?” I shouted to her. She stopped. I advanced. “You’ve seen it for yourself: your uncle found you as did the Admiral in Singapore. You’re a pirate. You’re always marked. If you want to outrun the world, choose a different profession.” With that, she flung her arms around me. She was crying. This was honestly the first time I had ever seen such a strong hearted woman cry. All the pent up rage and anger and unloved emotions seemed to just pour out in this moment. I put my arms around her, to comfort her. I kissed her head and we walked together with the rest of the crew to find that fresh water spring.
Chapter Thirty Four: Jack's Old Friends - Spoiler:
As we made our way through the jungle, we came across another little surprise. Floating in the pool of water lay the remains of a bizarrely dressed man. Judging by the ornate outfit and strangely cut hair style, this man had lived in Singapore. Barbossa dipped his hand into the water, tasted it, and spit it out quickly. “Poison. Foul by the body.” We all looked back at the body as Pintel went into the water and turned the body face up. He had been impaled through the mouth with a wooden spike. Rose, calmer now, took a double take upon looking at the man. “Hey I know him…” she started “He was in Singapore!” “Squawk! Singapore!” crowed Cotton’s Parrot. Something wasn’t right. “Captain!” shouted Marty. We all looked over the horizon to see The Black Pearl being boarded by another ship. An oriental ship. A Junk Ship… On the beach, Ragetti was frantically screaming that we had company. “It’s a trap!” I started, but soon found myself looking through the carbine of one of Tai Huang’s men. I turned on hearing the multiple clicking noises to see that we had been betrayed. Jack, nonchalantly, pointed to Barbossa. “He’s the Captain…”
We were brought back to the Pearl to find that we had indeed been mutinied upon. Not much to our surprise, except Jack’s surprise, we found Sao Feng standing on deck. “Sao Feng, you showin’ up here, tis a remarkable coincidence…” scowled Barbossa. Sao Feng didn’t acknowledge Barbossa. He was intent on Jack, who was sheepishly hiding behind me and Rose. “Jack Sparrow…” said Sao Feng. Rose dragged him forward. “You paid me great insult once.” “That doesn’t sound like me.” smiled Jack. His smile disappeared completely as Sao Feng decked him dead in the face. The Ooohs and Aaahs from the crew were a bit comical as Jack once again broke his nose back into place. “So we’ll just call it square then?” asked Jack with another smile. Before Sao Feng could answer, or throw another punch, Will stepped forward. “Release her. She’s not part of the bargain” by her, he was referring to Elizabeth. I was a little intrigued, yet irritated. “And what bargain be that, Young Mr. Turner?” I asked. Sao Feng turned to his men “You heard Captain Turner,” Rose and I looked at Will in astonishment. “Release her.” finished Sao Feng. Jack was having a hard time contemplating. “Captain Turner?” “Aye, the fiddious rotter led a mutiny against us!” barked Gibbs. So Will was the ringleader of this coup. Will explained why while Elizabeth was being unchained. “I need the Pearl to free my father.” said Will “That’s the only reason I came on this voyage.” Elizabeth was in shock. “Why didn’t you tell me you were planning this?” “It’s my burden to bear.” said Will, a tad look of sorrow on his face. Out of the corner of my eye, though, Jack seemed to slip back into insanity again. “He needs the Pearl… CAPTAIN Turner needs the Pearl!” he laughed and then looked to Elizabeth “And you felt guilty” and then he looked to me, Barbossa, and Rose “And you three and your Brethren Court… Did No One Come To Save Me Just Because They Missed Me?!” Jack pondered. A few sighs and looks around were distributed. Suddenly, Marty’s hand shot up. Jack liked that. Pintel slowly raised his hand. Jack was getting happier. Soon Ragetti and Cotton’s hands were up. Jack was beaming. The icing on the cake, sort of, even though he didn’t like him that much, was when Jack the Monkey raised his hand. Jack didn’t care. He’d take it. “I’m standin’ over there with them.” Before Jack even took three steps, he was stopped by Sao Feng’s claws. “I’m sorry Jack… But there is an old friend who wants to see you first.” “I’m not certain I can survive anymore visits from Old Friends.” said Jack, a little uncertain. Sao Feng pulled him to the port side. “He is your chance to find out…” We all looked to see a British Ship of the Line out on the horizon. Her white sails shone beautifully and terrifyingly across the sea. Her hull was a majestic yellow mixed with black and what topped her off, to the keen eye who saw, was the black flag of the East India Trading Company. The HMS Endeavour… Lord Cutler Beckett’s flagship…
“Ship ho!” shouted Scurvy Joe from the Crow’s Nest. As if in queue, the EITC Marines began to line up, rifles in hand, all along the rails of the Endeavour. Many began to board the Pearl, including Beckett’s right hand man and lap dog, Mr. Mercer, accompanied by Tristen. Rose silently spit at his feet as he passed by. As Barbossa, Rose, and I were being chained together with the rest of the pirates, Sao Feng went to discuss business with Mercer. “My men are crew enough.” “Company Ship, Company Crew.” said Mercer, with a sort of No Ifs, Ands, Or Buts about it look. He nodded to Tristen, who began walking with two marines flanked behind him up to the helm. “That bastard is now captain…” hissed Rose. “Sao Feng left the Pearl to Will.” I said. She merely laughed quietly. “Clearly you haven’t picked up on much in your many years of piracy, my darling.” And indeed she was right. Will began to make his way to Sao Feng. “You agreed that the Black Pearl was to be mine.” snapped Will, now looking at Mercer and then back at Sao Feng. “And so it WAS.” said Feng. He nodded at Tai Huang, who punched Will in the gut and hauled him and Elizabeth to the center, where they began to chain them up. Sao Feng now looked to see Tristen up on the helm. A sign of uncertainty came across The Dragon of Singapore’s face. Feng grabbed Mercer’s shoulder as he walked down from the helm, now on congratulating the new Captain (Tristen) on his promotion. “Beckett agreed that the Black Pearl was to be MINE.” hissed Sao Feng. Mercer looked upon him in disgust. “Lord Beckett’s not going to give up the only ship that can outrun the Dutchman, is he?” Mercer spat back. He looked at Sao Feng’s hand, which released, and walked away, leaving Feng bloodthirsty. Uncle took this opportunity and slowly began to turn it to our advantage. “Shame they’re not bound to honor the Code of the Brethren, isn’t it? Because honor’s a hard thing to come by nowadays.” “There is no honor remaining with the losing side. Leaving it for the winning side, well that’s good business.” said Sao Feng. Barbossa grinned a little. “The Losin’ side, ye say?” he pondered. Sao Feng looked at Barbossa like he was a moron. “They have the Dutchman… NOW the Pearl! And what do the Brethren Have?” asked Sao Feng, angrily. Barbossa whispered. “We have… Calypso…”
Chapter Thirty Five: An Old Legend - Spoiler:
Sao Feng looked, a tad intrigued, first looking at Rose who continued glaring up at the helm. But something inside of him made him change directions and looked right at Elizabeth, who looked back at him disgusted. Barbossa slowly turned his head behind him. Hope and trickery sparkling in his eye while Sao Feng laughed. “Calypso… An Old Legend?” “No… The Goddess herself bound in human form. Imagine… all the power of the seas brought together to bear against our enemy.” While Barbossa was saying all this, I saw the corners of Tia Dalma’s mouth curl into a devious and seductive smile as she looked back to the discussion at hand. “I intend to release her, but for that I need the Brethren Court…” said Barbossa, as he fingered with Sao Feng’s piece of eight: The Monkey’s Fist. “All the Court…” Sao Feng;s attention was definitely grabbed. “What are you proposing, Captain?” asked Sao Feng “What ye be acceptin’… Capn?” grinned Barbossa. “The girl…” said Sao Feng. On that, Rose snapped out her trance and together she and Elizabeth said “What?!” in shock. Rose asked again “Which one?” Sao Feng pointed a dirty claw of a nail at Elizabeth. Will was on the defense. And I was relieved that it wasn’t I who had to be on the defense. “Elizabeth is not part of any bargain!” said Will defiantly. Barbossa smiled, nodding. “Out of the question.” “It was not a question.” said Sao Feng. Elizabeth’s expression hardly changed. “Done” the pirates all looked at her in shock, Will especially. “What?! Not done!” barked Will. Elizabeth looked annoyed. “You got us into this mess and if this is what frees us then DONE!” hissed Elizabeth. “Elizabeth,” said Will “They’re Pirates!” “I have had more than enough experience dealing with Pirates!” snapped Elizabeth, who shoved Will away from her. Barbossa actually looked pleased with himself. “Then we have an accord?” asked the black hearted Captain, who looked at Sao Feng for acceptance of the terms. Sao Feng laughed shortly. “Agreed.” hissed the dragon inside Sao Feng. Barbossa’s grin stretched for miles. Without a word, he lifted his hands in a sign of “Get Me Out of These”. Sao Feng nodded and his crew began to unlock the chains around our hands. I turned to Pintel and Ragetti. “Get below decks and load the cannons. Take a company with you and blow the Endeavour to hell.” “Aye, sir… And what will you be doin’?” asked Barbossa behind me. I quietly unsheathed my sword and turned to face my uncle. “Rose and I have a bit of unfinished business to attend to…” On that note, Rose whipped out her sword and followed me as we began making our way towards the helm. We hadn’t taken five paces before BAM! The cannons erupted to life and the mayhem commenced.
Cannons whizzed past me as I launched myself towards the Pearl’s helm, where a confused Admiral Tristen stood in all his glory. Upon seeing me though, he sprang to life. Our swords clashed and clashed. He seemed to know what he was doing, adopting the fighting style of an able saber fencer, always following the rules, while my style was more rugged and freer. He slashed at my head, but his blade was caught by another. I looked up to see that Rose had joined the fight. Stunned at her entrance, Tristen just stood there momentarily, his sword locked with hers. I used that moment to my advantage. I quickly pulled out my pistol, clicked it loaded, and fired. A bloody scream of pain and terror filled the skies as I looked to see that I had pierced a clean hole right through Tristen’s ankle. Upon seeing his other comrades retreat, however, he staggered over the rail and into the water. As I stood up, Rose looked a little aback. “That’s cheating.” she said, toying with me. I kissed her full on the lips. “Pirate.” I said with a wink. The moment was gone as we heard a cannon shot. To all our amazements, we saw a man… flying over to the Pearl. Realizing that it could be none other than Jack, we rushed to see if he made it or not. We saw the rope slide back into the water, so panic struck my uncle’s face, but as he looked up, as we all did, we saw that Jack was leaning on one of the lanterns on the helm, smiling. “And that was without even a single drop of rum.” He grinned. Barbossa grimaced, sheathed his sword, and hobbled away, for his leg had been cut by Mercer. But even I had to admit that Jack definitely stuck the landing. As Jack jumped down, Pintel and Ragetti apprehended Will. “Send this pestilent traitorous cow-hearted yeasty-cod beast to the brig.” said Jack in disgust. Pintel and Ragetti dragged and forced Will to the brig. Jack turned to Barbossa, Rose, and me. “Well c’mon, you lot. We’ve got a meetin’ to get to.” And with that, The Black Pearl plotted a course to Shipwreck Island.
Chapter Thirty Six: The Brethren Court - Spoiler:
The journey to Shipwreck Island was a relatively easy one. The only treacherous storm I had to deal with was that Rose and I didn’t speak a word since we fought Tristen together. Through most of the trip, she would stay in bed while Tia would tend to her. Whenever I would knock or try to see how Rose was, I was turned away by Tia. The guilt began to fester inside me again. For all that I knew, I had ruined Rose’s life. She could die in childbirth for all I knew. I was ashamed. On the second day, however, I had to knock on Rose’s door. Once again, Tia came to answer. “I’m sorry, Hector. She is in no condition to,” I stopped her. “Barbossa wants to speak with you, Tia.” I said, my face emotionless. She was taken aback a little. “About?” she asked “He didn’t say.” I nodded in sincerity. “All I know is that it’s urgent. Probably about the Meeting or something.” Nothing I said really went to Tia, for she was pondering about what was to happen next. She nodded at me, patted my shoulder, and walked up the stairs. Seeing it as the perfect opportunity, I went into Rose’s cabin. “What is it?” she asked, and to my amazement, I didn’t hear or sense any harsh tones in her voice. In my head, I was thinking “Boy, her hormones are definitely acting up. She’s pissed at me one day, and the next she’s fine”. “Uh, we’re here.” I managed to say, losing my train of thought. A warm smile came across Rose’s face as she got out of bed, slipped her boots onto her feet, with some difficulty, grabbed a bigger coat then her usual custom cut coat, put on her effects, and stood at the ready. “Well c’mon, love!” she gaily smiled. “We’ve got a war to plan!” she grabbed my arm and together we went up on deck
By nightfall, we had made it through The Devil’s Throat, amazingly untouched by the Throat’s treacherous rocks and narrow tunnels. But on the other side, the view was beautiful. Like nothing I would’ve imagined. Shipwreck Cove was indeed a fortress. A vast fortress in the center of a volcanic crater, Shipwreck Cove was built out of many shipwrecked ships and parts. The entire city was a shipwreck graveyard, gussied up to a now beautiful city that housed Pirate Hall, the center point of the Pirate Government’s headquarters. Tied on the docks were the many ships seen around the world: galleons, frigates, fishing boats, sloops, junks, etc. “Look at ‘em all!” said Rose in absolute amazement. Barbossa nodded “There’s not been a gatherin’ like this in our lifetime…” “And I owe them all money…” said Jack, sadly. I could only roll my eyes.
The beating of the chain cannonball echoed through Pirate Hall, indicating to the many Pirates present to settle down. Rose and I stood at the front of the table with Uncle Barbossa, who was at the head of the table as Summoner of The Court. “As he who issued summons, I convene this the Fourth Brethren Court!” echoed Barbossa. And with that, the Pirate Lords all sat down. Barbossa raised his hand for Ragetti to collect. “Confirm yer Lordship and right to be heard! Present now, yer Pieces of Eight, my fellow Captains!” Ragetti began to go from chair to chair and at each visit, a Pirate Lord would drop something into the bowl. Sri Sumbhajee put in a small tusk. Capitaine Chevalle put in A Queen of Spades card. At Eduardo Villanueva’s broken bottle neck, Rose turned to me. “Those aren’t Pieces of Eight. Those are just trash!” she whispered. “The original plan was to use actual Pieces of Eight to bind Calypso, but when they actually tried it, the coins melted.” I explained. Rose was still a little disgusted. “So why not change the name?” “To what? The ‘Nine Pieces of Whatever We Happen To Have In Our Pockets At The Time’? Oh yes, that sounds very piraty!” I snorted, laughing a little. “But it’s now a custom for all Pirate Lords to pick something that has sentimental value to them and use it as their Piece of Eight. Remember my hook?” I asked Rose, showing her the gold hook I found in the Jolly Roger all those years ago. But again, Rose stopped listening and just gazed intently at the gold. This girl had an eye for gold. The Pirate Lords continued to drop their Pieces of Eight into the bowl. After Ammand the Corsair dropped in his black shot glass, Ragetti looked up to face Barbossa. “Master Ragetti, if you will.” Barbossa reached out his hand in front of Ragetti’s face. “I-I kept it safe for you. Just like you said when you gave it to me.” said Ragetti, a little sheepishly. “Aye, ye have, but now I need it back.” said Barbossa. With that, he smacked the back of Ragetti’s head, causing Ragetti’s wooden eye to pop out. Barbossa caught it, inspected it, and dropped it into the bowl. “Sparrow!” barked Villanueva. We all turned to see Jack finger with his braided coin, which laid on top of his bandana. “Might I point out that we are still short one Pirate Lord and I’m as content as a cucumber to wait until Sao Feng joins us.” grinned Jack. “Sao Feng is dead.” said a voice from far behind. Everyone turned to see Elizabeth Swann, dressed now in the same fashion as an oriental admiral, stand at the door with Sao Feng’s crew. The alarms and stirs within the Court began. “He fell to the Flying Dutchman.” finished Elizabeth. The chatter grew louder. “The Plague Ship!” shouted Mistress Ching, the blind Pirate Lord of the Pacific Ocean. “And made you Captain?!” said Jack in amazement over the shouts and cries of the others “We’re just givin’ the bloody title away now.” “El Amund del Diablo!” shouted Villanueva. The shouts grew louder and louder. “Listen! Listen to me!” begged Elizabeth. The Court settled down. “Our location has been betrayed!” she finished. The Pirates gasped in surprise and alarm. “Jones is under the command of Lord Beckett. They’re on their way here.” said Elizabeth. “Who is dis betrayer?!” shouted Gentleman Jocard of the Atlantic Sea. Barbossa tried to get him to sit down and relax. “Not likely anyone among us!” “Where’s Will?” asked Elizabeth quietly. “Not among us.” said Jack, Rose, and I simultaneously. “And it matters not how they found us, the question is what will we do now that they have?” asked Barbossa. “We fight!” said Elizabeth. This was met with absolute laughter and giggles. “Shipwreck Cove is a fortress. A well supplied fortress!” stated Ching. “There is no need to fight if they cannot get to us!” Many of the pirates nodded their head in agreement. “There be a third course…” said Barbossa. The Court quieted down to listen to Barbossa. “In another age, at this very spot, the First Court captured The Sea Goddess, and bound her in her bones…” The Pirates nodded, having heard this tale multiple times. Barbossa shook his head. “That was a mistake…” The Pirates looked at him like he was mental. He continued “Oh we tamed the seas for ourselves, aye… but opened the door to Beckett and his ilk! Better were the days when Mastery of Seas came not from bargains struck from eldritch creatures… but from the sweat of a man’s brow and the strength of his back alone! Ya’ll know this to be true!” the Court agreed, a few fists pounded on the table in agreement. And then Uncle dropped the bomb on everybody. “Gentlemen… Ladies… We must Free Calypso.” Absolute silence…
BAM! As if cannon fire had struck Pirate Hall, the shouts and cries and yells echoed all through Shipwreck Island. Even pirates out in the street were yelling against Barbossa. “Shoot him!” shouted Ammand the Corsair “Cut Out His Tongue!” barked Gentleman Jocard. Jack liked all this “Shoot him AND cut out his tongue then shoot his tongue!” said Jack gleefully. “And trim that.. scraggly beard.” Barbossa rolled his eyes. “Sao Feng would’ve agreed with Barbossa!” stated Tai Huang. “Do you have any other means of facing the devil?” I said to the Court. “Calypso was our enemy then! She will be our enemy now!” shouted Jocard. Capitaine Chevalle nodded “And it’s unlikely her mood’s improved.” “I will still agree with Sao Feng!” said Villanueva, laying his pistol on the table, facing his long time opponent, Chevalle. “You threaten me?” said Chevalle, in amusement and alarm. Villanueva raised his firearm “I silence you!” before Villanueva could take the shot, Chevalle punched him dead in the face, causing Villanueva’s pistol to discharge. After that, everything went to hell. Pirates were throwing other pirates around, punching, breaking bottles over their heads, and I did see one man throw a French pirate right out of the window. “This is madness!” said Elizabeth in amazement. I merely laughed “This is politics.” I said. Jack laughed “Meanwhile, our enemies are bearing down upon us.” said Rose. Barbossa growled “If they not be here already…” Rose looked confused, but the same feeling passed through her. She pulled me down to ear level. “He’s here…” she hissed “Who?” I said, still watching “political squabble” “Who do you think? How do you think I would know if it was any other man than the one in question?” she said, in disgust. It didn’t take long to pick up on who she meant. For I could faintly hear the echo of a beautiful lullaby through the bangs and clatters as well as Rose and Barbossa could. Jack, of course, remained mostly intrigued with the fighting.
Barbossa, having had enough with the petty grievances that separated us pirates, stood on the table, chain ball and pistol in hands. He clicked his pistol and fired into the air. The fighting ceased immediately. “It was the first court what imprisoned Calypso, and we will be the ones to set her free, and in her gratitude she will see fit to grant us boons!” said Barbossa. Jack looked at Barbossa with his usual look of mischief. “Who’s boons? Your boons? Utterly deceptive twaddlespeak, says I.” said Jack. Barbossa rolled his eyes, sighed, and stepped down from the table. “If ye have a better alternative, please… share!” sighed Barbossa. “Cuddlefish… eh?” said Jack. We all looked at Jack like he was bonkers. He didn’t care. “Let us not, dear friends, forget our dear friends the cuttlefish. Flippant glorious little sausages. Pen 'em up together and they'll devour each other without a second thought. Human nature, isn't it?...or.... or....fish nature. So yes, we could hole up here well provisioned and well armed and half of us would be dead within the month, which seems grim to me any way you slice it. Or, as my learned… colleague… so naively suggests, we could release Calypso, and we can pray that she will be merciful. I rather doubt it. Can we in fact pretend that she is anything other than a woman scorned, like which fury hell hath no? We cannot. Res ipso loquitur tabula in naufragio, we are left with but one option. I agree with, and I cannot believe the words are comin' out of me mouth,” Jack struggled with the last few words “Captain Swann… We must fight.” Elizabeth looked pleased. I looked a little surprised to say the least. Barbossa wasn’t buying it. “You’ve always run away from a fight!” he barked. “Have not!” said Jack, resenting that claim. “Ye have so!” said Barbossa. “Have Not!” said Jack again “Ye have so!” said Barbossa again. Meanwhile, the whole Court is just looking back and forth between Jack and Barbossa’s argument. “Have Not!” said Jack, with more feeling “Ye have so and ye know it!” stated Barbossa. “Have not, slander and calumny! I have only ever embraced that oldest and noblest of Pirate Traditions. And I submit that here, now, that is what we all must do. We must fight…. To run away!” grinned Jack. “Aye!” shouted Gibbs. His aye was met with ayes across the hall. Now, on a side note, my parents had taught me about the Code and had probably read to me most of the articles of war a hundred times over. “As per the Code,” I started “An act of war, and this be exactly that, can only be declared by the Pirate King.” Barbossa looked really impressed with me. “You made that up!” said Jack, pointing an accusing finger at me. “Oh did he, now? I call on Captain Teague! Keeper of the Code!” said Barbossa. I saw that at the far end of the table, Jack’s face went white as a ghost. Many gasps were silently heard around the room. An aide to Sri Sumbhajee received a nudge in the ribs by the Sri himself and stood up. “Sri Sumbhajee proclaims this all to be FOLLY!” spat the aide. “Ugh! Hang the Code! Who cares abo—“ his sentence was cut off… for he had been shot through the heart. He fell to the ground dead. Now the Court was uneasy once again, but from a balcony in the far corner, we all heard the sound of a man blowing away the steam from his pistol. “The Code is the law.” said the unforgettable Keeper of the Code Captain Teague Sparrow. Jack’s expression was a mix between scared and “Oh Crap”. Captain Teague strode down the stairs to where Jack was standing. “You’re in my way, boy…” said the old Captain. Jack slinked away. Teague turned and summoned forth two pirates, carrying one of the biggest books I’d ever seen. The gasps and excitement throughout the Court was breathtaking. “The Code…” I said quietly. “Set forth by Morgan and Bartholomew themselves…” Rose was in absolute amazement. The ancient rulebook was placed gently on the table. Teague then whistled and to many of our surprises, mainly the ones who had been on Cannibal Island with Jack, saw the Jailhouse Dog, aka Poochy, scamper in with his signature keys in his mouth. Teague, seeing our surprised faces, shrugged. “Sea Turtles, mate.” he said with a wink. The Black Pearl crew laughed to themselves while Teague unlocked the lock and flipped the Code open. A few moments passed while Teague was searching for something. Finally, with an “aha” he looked up. “McSkull is right.” he said with a grin. I nodded respectively and gloatingly. “Hang on a minute…” said Jack, who began checking the article himself. He shrugged. “Fancy that.” “There’s not been a King since the First Court. And it’s not likely to change.” said Chevella matter-of-factly. “Unlikely…” repeated Teague, who turned and went to sit down in a nearby chair. “Why not?” asked Elizabeth. “See, the Pirate King is elected by popular vote.” started Gibbs. “And each pirate only ever votes for hisself.” said Barbossa. Jack didn’t care. And judging by the look on his face, I knew he had something up his sleeve. “I call for a vote!” he said cheerfully. Barbossa and I sighed while Teague began to play a beautiful rendition of “Farewell and Adieu To Ye Spanish Ladies”. Each Pirate Lord stood up, obviously voting for themselves “I vote for Ammand the Corsair!” “Capitaine Chevalle: The Penniless Frenchman!” “Sri Sumbhajee votes for Sri Sumbhajee” said Sri Sumbahee’s NEW aide “Mistress Ching!” “Gentleman Jocard!” “Elizabeth Swann” “Barbossa” “Villanueva!” Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Teague look up. “Elizabeth Swann…” said Jack. We were all shocked, including Elizabeth. “What?!” she said. Jack grinned “I know, curious isn’t it?” with this, the rest of the Pirate Lords were so offended that Jack wouldn’t vote for them. Jack turned the tide on them “Am I to understand that you lot will not be keeping to the Code then?” he asked. In the background, the sound of a guitar string breaking was heard. Silence fell upon the Court. “Very well…” nodded Mistress Ching, who turned in Elizabeth’s general direction. “What say you, Captain Swann: King of the Brethren Court?” all the Pirates leaned in to hear their brave commander’s orders. “Prepare every vessel that floats. At dawn… we’re at war.” said King Elizabeth Swann. Sri Sumbahjee stood up for the first time. “And so,” he said with his very high and hysterical voice that no one could’ve guessed would come out of a man like this “We Shall Go To War!” the pirates cheered. And so it was done. War had Begun.
Meanwhile, I had left at the point where Jack had voted for Elizabeth, because I’d know of the outcome soon enough. I was able to slink up the stairs of the balcony Teague was up on a few minutes before. With a look and a nod from Teague, I knew it was safe to go up there. As I entered, however, I was blown away. I found myself standing in The Pirate Hall of Fame/Infamy. I passed by many brave pirates portraits: Blackbeard, Calico Jack, Rodrigo Barbossa: The First Pirate King, etc. But what really grabbed my attention was the pair of seats at the end of the hall. I had heard that they were honored somehow and knew that they had some role in the Brethren Court, but I never knew just how sacred they were remembered. At the end of the hall stood the former seat of the Pirate Lord of the Emerald Islands and the former seat of the Pirate Lady of Spain. Captains Henry and Elizabeth McSkull… My parents. Above the chairs was the jolly rogers of both captains and in the center, to my amazement, my jolly roger. “I sent The Keeper of the Code a message to put you in here somehow.” said a voice from behind. I turned to see Rose standing there. “I was amazed he actually replied. I intended to take you up here to show you myself, but you’d gone and went and spoiled the surprise.” she smiled. At this very moment, I couldn’t express just how amazing this woman was. I was surprised I was able to utter out a thank you before I embraced her and took her into my arms. Despite the fact she was pregnant, despite my guilt, despite it all, we knew we both understood each other extremely well and were both there for each other always. “Now c’mon, tiger.” she said, straightening my hat for me “We’ve got a war to win.”
Chapter Thirty Seven: The Traitor, The Lord, The Admiral, The Devil, and The In-Law - Spoiler:
The Pirate Fleet was lined and ready off the coast of Shipwreck Island. We all waited with baited breath for the sails of the enemy to sail over the horizon. No sound at all was heard. A fly’s foot fall was audible in the silence. But then… “The Army is here! LET’S TAKE ‘EM!” shouted Marty from the riggings. The Flying Dutchman sailed into view from the fog. All the pirates rose up with war cries and cheers. Even I got lost in mob mentality, for I had shot my pistol into the air in excitement. But Rose steadied my hand. She wasn’t cheering or chanting. Her expression was that of Barbossa’s, who rolled his eyes as in “This ain’t nothing yet”. And they were both right. The cheers slowly ceased as the entire East India Trading Company’s fleet of prized ships of the line sailed into view. Cotton’s Parrot fled the coop squawking “Abandon ship! Abandon ship!” Everyone slowly turned their gazes onto Jack, who shrugged, sheepishly smiled, and said one of his favorite words. “Parlay?”
On a small sandbar in the middle of both fleets, Barbossa, Elizabeth, I, Rose, and Jack walked side by side to the end of the sandbar where five figures stood waiting for us. One of the figures, an older woman with graying black hair and elegantly dressed in a royal blue noblewoman’s dress, clutched to a handkerchief, sobbing from time to time. Out of sadness or joy remained unknown at the moment. Standing beside her were four familiar figures: Will Turner the Traitor, Lord Beckett, Admiral Tristen, and Davy Jones the Devil himself, who was standing in a pale of water. Each of us pirates had it out for one of the five figures: Barbossa vs Will, Elizabeth vs Beckett, Me vs Tristen, Jack vs, Davy Jones, and upon looking at the sobbing woman, Rose’s expression turned to absolute detestation. When we made it to the end of the sandbar, the woman lost it all together. “Rose! Thank God! Thank God!” the woman rushed to cling herself around Rose’s waist, sobbing. We all looked oddly at the woman for a moment, but then focused back. “You be the curr that led these wolves to our door?” spat Barbossa at Will. Beckett smiled a little. “Don’t blame Turner.” he said, smirking ‘He was merely the tool to your betrayal. If you wish to see it’s grand architect, look to your left.” Barbossa turned to Elizabeth, who turned to me, who turned to Rose, who looked at the woman again with absolute annoyance, and then looked to Jack, who looked to his left and found no one there. We were shocked; even Rose’s expression changed a little. Jack did what Jack always does: Improvised “My hands are clean in this!” he said, but then looked down at his hands and grimaced “figuratively…” “My actions were my own and to my own purpose.” said Will, turning to Beckett “Jack had nothing to do with it.” “Well spoke!” cheered Jack “listen to the tool!” “Will, I’ve been aboard the Dutchman.” said Elizabeth. Will’s expression changed to confusion “I understand the burden you bear, but I fear that cause is lost.” pleaded Elizabeth. Will shook his head. “No cause is lost,” said Will, now looking at Jack “If there is but one fool left to fight for it.” Jack grinned. “If Turner wasn’t acting on your behalf,” said Beckett as Tristen pulled out something from his belt “Then how did he come to give me this?” asked Beckett. Barbossa and I rolled our eyes while Jack sighed. “You made a deal to deliver the Pirates, Jack. And here they are!” said Beckett, throwing Jack the compass. “Don’t be bashful. Step up! Claim your reward.” “Yer debt to me is still to be satisfied-a!” barked Davy Jones “One hundred years in servitude aboard the Dutchman! As a start!” Jack looked defiantly at Jones. “That debt was paid, mate! With some... help.” he said, pointing at Elizabeth. “You escaped! As did you, Rosie dear-a!” spat Jones. The woman clinging to Rose looked up at Davy Jones, tears rolling down her face. “She has no debt, David! She’s coming back home with me and her father to plan the arrangements for her wedding!” cried the woman. I looked at the woman absolutely baffled. “Who the devil, pardon me,” I said, looking to Davy Jones, who sighed, and then continued “Is this woman?! And what wedding?!” “My daughter’s wedding of course! She is to marry the handsome Admiral standing before you!” shrieked the woman. My eyes fully opened to this awful situation. “She’s your mother?!” I asked Rose, still confused. Rose sighed. “Sadly…” she sighed. Rose’s mother, Victoria Regit, grasped Rose’s wrist and brought her to the enemy side right beside Tristen, who tried to put an arm around her, but was brutally slapped away. “Your father and I have been worried sick, young lady! You’re to come back with us immediately and live a civilized life as you were born to do!” shouted Victoria. Rose lost it “HE’S NOT MY FATHER, YOU’RE NOT MY MOTHER, AND I AM NOT MARRYING TRISTEN!” shouted Rose at the top of her lungs, causing basically everyone on the sandbar to cringe a little in fear. Victoria seemed to be completely narrow minded, being able to block out her daughter’s words and twist them into words that she wanted to hear. She slapped Rose across the cheek “Put the nonsense of piracy out of your head and take your rightful place at Tristen’s side as a Navy Wife!” shrieked Victoria. Finally I stepped in, raising my pistol at Victoria. Tristen immediately pulled his out on me while the rest just watched the bizarre scene. “If you know what’s good for you, McSkull, lower your weapon.” said Tristen calmly. I ignored Tristen and directed my words towards Victoria, who was looking at me with confusion and defiance, but before I spoke, I saw a small gleam come across my eyes and grinned. “You desperately need help, ma’am. You obviously don’t know a single thing about your daughter. She’s wise, clever as a tack, and beyond beauty. She could never be the pompous civilian, like yourself.” “How dare you?!” hissed Victoria. “I DARE because I know Rose better then you do by far, ma’am. Same goes for you, Admiral.” I grinned. “And what I know is that you aren’t watching your back.” with this, Victoria’s eyes widened. She barely had enough time to see Rose plunge her dagger into her mother’s back. Victoria let out a silent scream of shock. Rose leaned in to her mother’s ear. “Send my regards to my real father.” grinned Rose. She pulled out her dagger, leaving Victoria’s body to slump to the ground. The blood stained the white sand of the sandbar. Rose then quickly returned to our side of the line. Davy Jones looked down at the corpse “Victoria Regit: Our debt is settled.” Victoria’s body began to slowly decay into the sand. Jones then turned his gaze towards Jack “But yours isn’t-a! You escaped from the Locker!” “Technically…” started Jack, but Elizabeth cut him off. “I propose an exchange… Will leaves with us and you can take Jack.” Barbossa, Rose, who was calmer now and more at peace, and I looked at Elizabeth like she was mad. Beckett smiled. “Done.” said Will “Undone!” said Jack. “Done!” repeated Beckett. Barbossa and I rounded on Elizabeth “Jack’s one of the Nine Pirate Lords! You have no right!” spat Barbossa. Elizabeth laughed a little “King.” she said a matter of factly. Jack took off his hat and dramatically bowed low in front of Elizabeth. “As you command… your nibs.” “Blaggard!” I shouted, drawing my cutlass and slashing at Jack’s bandana. His coin braid fell to the sand. Jack the Monkey jumped off Uncle’s shoulders and quickly grabbed the coin. Barbossa rounded on Jack now. “If ye have somethin’ to say, I might be sayin’ somethin’ as well…” said Barbossa. Jack smiled a little “First to the finish, then?” he nodded towards Barbossa, saluted towards me, and then traded places with Will. However, Beckett moved Jack over to where Davy Jones was standing. Much to Jack’s disgust, he slunk over. Davy Jones leaned in close to Jack’s face. “Do you fear death-a?” “You have no idea…” said Jack. Tristen now stood in front of us. “Advise your Brethren that you can fight and all of you will die,” “Or,” started Beckett “You can not fight, in which case only most of you will die.” Elizabeth glared at Beckett. “You murdered my father…” “He chose his own fate.” said Beckett while Tristen cleaned off the dried blood of Governor Weatherby Swann off of his dagger. “And you have chosen yours…” said Elizabeth, anger building “We will fight… and you will die…” she turned around and headed to the longboat. We all followed, my arm around Rose, who was still in shock that her mother died at her hand. I was able to hear Beckett whisper “So be it.” as we walked away. There was no backing out now. I really hoped that Uncle Barbossa’s plan would work.
